Copenhagen Coffee Lab - Carlsplatz — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

On Saturday, 16.08.2025, around 09:45 AM, my husband and I visited this branch for breakfast. We are regulars at the Cologne branch and have always been impressed by the excellent food, coffee, and service there. Unfortunately, our experience at this outlet was very disappointing.

While the cashier was polite, the food preparation raised several concerns. One of the staff members handled our cutlery by the area where it is normally used for eating. We pointed this out and requested a change, but the same mistake was repeated before it was corrected.

When my toasted sandwich was served, the bread was burned. I requested a replacement, which they prepared, but unfortunately, the sandwich fell onto the table during service and was still given to me instead of being replaced with a fresh one. Another couple of customers witnessed this, which was quite uncomfortable. I decided not to make an issue of it to avoid further delays, but even the replacement sandwich was again burnt.

The service system here is awful. Verifying bills is a nightmare thanks to their difficult to use money counting machine. The employees making the drinks don’t even call out order numbers and you’re just left standing hoping that maybe your drink will be made. We had to wait an unbelievable 15 minutes just for two cappuccinos all while watching people who arrived long after us get served first. It was very frustrating to have to ask multiple times just to get the drinks we already paid for. The food at this coffee place is quite good—the bread and meat were excellent, and the flavors really stood out. However, the service is a major letdown. It's slow, disorganized, and forgetful. The staff should feel overwhelmed given how inefficient the system is, but they seem surprisingly underwhelmed and indifferent. This creates unnecessary long lines and delays. It’s frustrating to see such a great menu overshadowed by poor service. If they improved their system and attitude, this place could truly shine. For now, be prepared for a lot of waiting.
