Tasty lunch in a good flow: On down-town Duesseldorf's lively Immermannstraße, within the 'Japanese Quarter', the Takezo restaurant and take-away offers fresh, down-to-earth dishes Japanese style that are delicious and rationally measured in quantity and flavour. For example the spicy red or black noodle soups (ca. 12,50€) are actually refreshing, without any burdensome effects. These meals go perfectly well with a freshly draughted Kirin Ichiban beer (6€ per half a litre). The location has an unvulgar, cool, yet comfortable design: Under the dimmed lights the guest are sitting rather close to one another, but without intruding into their neighbours' private spheres. The comprehensively structured service process is organised and performed in a most time-saving yet for the guest stressless way. The longish bar is used as a place for lunch as well, which makes sense as the number of guests is constantly high in here. On the wall reprints of one Kirin Ichiban-advertisement show, in the vague tradition of old woodprints, an ideal Japanese landscape full of green and colourful flowers, the Fuji in the farer, non-centrical distance. Out of one bottle of beer (in the poster's upper middle) the course of a river is pouring down and meandering into the background - and thus is simultaneously and symbolically making the scenery a subtle and comical allusion to German Rhine-Romanticism, full of colourful harmony. A smart and utterly fitting piece of decoration for this special and well...
Read moreWe had a very terrible evening there... We had been to this restaurant for last two years and it was always good. Tonight we wanted to have noodles together with our son for three years old and my parents. We entered into the restaurant at 18:00 and until 19:15 we have not seen our noodles and even the beer yet. We asked the waitress and she "threw" us some side dishes which were supposed to be put into noodles..... But we were keeping seen the people who came after us getting their noodles and we were waiting with empty belly and they didn't even think of the young kids. I was ungre and spoke with manager and he looked like he does care at all. We were all blown up due to his reaction and left immediately. We found quickly another Japanese restaurant and got our food within 10 minutes as it should be. So there must be something goes wrong with Takezo. Terrible restaurant. If they don't care about their own business and why should be people visiting them. We will not come back...
Read moreOne of the most frequently visited Ramen-Ya in Düsseldorf - remember to factor in at least 30 minutes for waiting in the queue when you visit, but rest assured - it will be worth it! The ramen selection has evolved to fit the times - spicy ramen, intensely flavoured ramen, and even vegan ramen to make sure that everyone can enjoy! The menu has also been expanded to include a wide variety of a la Carte dishes - gyoza (dumplings/pot stickers), Torikara (deep fried chicken), Yakisoba (fried buckwheat noodles with veg and meat), and even a little dessert!!
If you need something less filling than ramen, check out the rice dishes - if you are going low-carb or no-carb, ask for the meaty dishes like Miso Buta that can be served without rice. Get creative and put together a custom meal for yourself packed with small, nutritious dishes!
The drinks menu is particularly exciting - I think they serve the drink rather slowly, BUT you can get imported beers, red or white wine, whiskey and a seriously broad range of affordable sake (Japanese rice wine)... There are also cocktails and novelrt drinks that are popular in Japan... If the service was faster (did I mention how popular they are?), I would come here just for the drinks!
Definitely one of the best Ramen-Ya in Düsseldorf - well...
