Maybe the place itself is fine, but the lady at the ticket counter was super rude. The venue was overcrowded — no free seats anywhere, the bar full also. She had no hesitation taking our money (cash only, by the way), but when I pointed out that there was literally nowhere to sit, to eat or have a drink, she first ignored me and then told us we could just leave — without a ticket refund. This was before the event had even started, and we had been there for maybe two minutes. It was clear we wouldn’t find a spot for the next couple of hours, yet she kept selling tickets. A terrible experience — but to be fair, the problem was entirely with that front-desk person. Businesses really need to pay more attention to the people they put in customer-facing roles; they are the first point of contact and set the tone for the whole place. A bit of empathy and politeness would go a long way. In the end, the situation was resolved by a man (not sure if he was the manager) who handled everything much more professionally. He completely understood what had happened and agreed that a refund was the right thing to do. I had an amazing evening at Voltaire. The atmosphere is quite unique. I would say that Voltaire goes beyond what a usual pub can offer. I liked, especially, the good vibe that arises from not only the crew but also the lights, music and people that I encountered during my visit. Moises, the dude at the bar, was always paying attention when me or my friends wanted to order something more, which isn’t common to see in a regular pub nowadays. Club Voltaire is bar / club only(?) with occasional snacks & coffee with very reasonable rentable rooms above. Definitely fits the term quirky, but I like it. Range of beers and Apfelwein, DJ evenings most evenings, normally opens at 18:00, very pleasant and personable owner.

We have only been there for hiring the top room for Dungeons & Dragons themed RPG events, as there's so few places that are available to do tabletop events that aren't totally packed out (like Playce).
