MAREDO Frankfurt Hauptwache — Restaurant in Frankfurt

Maredo is quite a well-known steakhouse chain. However, when I arrived, I was struck by how it looked like a fast food joint. Wobbly dirty tables, shabby benches, sticky and greasy seasoning shakers on the tables that I was hesitant to even touch. I ordered a medium rare fillet. What they brought me was something I had never experienced before. When I cut into the steak, it was completely raw and cold inside - the fat in the meat was completely solid and white. Did they really throw a frozen piece of meat on the pan? So I called the waiter and told him that the steak needed to be defrosted to at least rare. He looked at it and shrugged, "Yeah, you're right, that's not medium rare." He took it away. Thirty minutes later (!!!), when the others had already finished their meals since they had made better choices, he brought back my steak. The same one. Even with the cut-off piece. The steak was completely cremated. As if, since frozen wasn't good enough for me, I got burnt one instead. I was extremely hungry and didn't want to argue because we all know what happens to the food of complaining guests... But it was inedible, some chewy piece got stuck in my throat, I ended up vomiting those 50 euros into the restaurant's toilet, and the next day I had severe stomach problems. We ordered mashed potatoes as a side dish, but i have no idea, what they brought - it smelled so terrible like a garlic, there goes no garlic in mashed potatoes, and it definetly didnt look like mashed potatoes. We didnt touch it. The waiter even didnt care, noone ask why we left it untouched. To top it off, we ordered two espressos. We waited 40 minutes for them and had to remind the waiter twice that we had ordered coffee. The waiter eventually brought a double shot...

We went at 8.30pm on a weekday. The restaurant was half empty. We requested to sit by the window, but the server said there were no small tables for the 2 of us. Although there was 1 and he eventually sat us there. Hmm it's already 830pm, and there were quite a number of empty 4 seater tables by the window. Was it so difficult to sit us there? Did he really expect a sudden influx of groups of 4, 1hr before last orders?.And there were already other 4 seater tables occupied by 2 persons.

Next, we had so much difficulty getting attention from a server to take our orders. Eventually we had to walk a distance to approach one of them, who said he could only take drinks orders as he was new. He was pleasant and we were happy with his service. After another long while, he came back and said he would take our orders.

Ribeye was gd. Fries were average. Beer was ok. What was interesting was the many bottles of different peppers on the table.

When we wanted the bill, there was again no server in sight. We walked to the entrance where the counter was to ask for the bill, which again took a long time and involved 4 servers. I just stood, looked and waited, waited. No apologies, no thanks, nothing. 1 senior server asked if I would like to leave a tip. I didn't reply him and after a while he just keyed in the bill amount without tip.

He dropped my receipt on the floor, picked it up and placed it on a small platform...

We drove to Frankfurt from Marburg. This is the McDonald's of steak houses, a chain with low quality with expensive prices. Very disappointing that if you want quality and service, it is not here. It was understaffed and under trained. My wife ordered the 180-gram steak and side salad with apple schorle. The apple schorle didn't have any seltzer in it and weren't cold. So a Coca-Cola was ordered on its place, and it came with a dried out lemon in the glass. Steak came medium rare, with blood running out. Took steak back and returned with a hot plate as if it were put in the microwave. It was still blood runny. Had to show the waiter what a medium steak is supposed to look like from Google images. Finally, they returned with a medium steak but thinner and tougher. I ordered the BBQ brisket. The brisket came and was covered with BBQ sauce. The brisket color was totally off and was in strands like roast beef. The BBQ should be on the side but this was to cover the low quality brisket. 2 large beers and soda the bill was 66 euros. Update- someone within this business complained to Google about my post. This business has done this to others. as with the post, there's a receipt. The next only step they have is the notorious German court. Even in Germany, you are supposed to be able to post the truth with evidence. Sad, instead of saying they'll do better, they...
