On a warm day like today, my friends and I tried the new korean cafe @kaffee._.kyubang. We order two different types of ice cream and share them.🍧The mango variant was delicious. The diced mango pieces were sweet and soft. The korean rice cakes were soft but also chewy, so you had to chew on them. I like that. The filling consisted of red beans. It was good that there was a vanilla ball because it gave the shaved ice a sweet note.🍨I would prefer the red bean variant because it tasted more intense due to the powder that was scattered over the ice cream. Moreover I love red beans, which are under the vanilla ice cream ball. Together with the grated peanuts and the rice cake it was a very tasty combination of tastes and a nice cool down on the hot day . 💆♂️The waiter was very friendly and explained the menu and the different types of ice cream to us.🏮The interior looks very nice. It looks like an old but also stylish kitchen with all the decorations in the cabinets and on the walls. The restaurant also has outdoor seating, which was fully occupied that day.📍The coffee shop is downtown and on the same street with many different asian restaurants . 🍽Food: 🍧4/5 🍨5/5

If you're craving for something sweeter their bingsoo is the perfect snack for a summer afternoon, or anytime of the year. Each flavour is layered with shaved ice, mochi filled with red bean, fruit or red bean and topped with a scoop of ice cream depending on what you've selected. They also have ice cream, fish waffles as well as brown sugar filled pancakes. Overall I think their specialty is bingsoo and it's definitely what you see at each table when it's busy. Their fish waffles can be improved if they also include a filling inside (e.g. custard, red bean, black bean, mung bean, etc), so it was a but disappointing when I but into it and only saw their waffle mix inside. As for their hotteok (Korean pancakes), this was a little overcooked as it wasn't as soft and chewy.
For the drinks, I kept mine simple with a green tea latte which had a good balance of matcha and milk.
Kyubang also has various collaborations during the year on workshops teaching about Korean food and culture.
Staff here are friendly, attentive and helpful. And I'd definitely recommend this place on your to do list...
Read moreAs someone who traveled through Asia and has been to various different Cafés, I can say that this is the best Café I‘ve ever been to. My dad and I traveled here from Munich just to try this place and we were not disappointed. We had the Matcha and Mango Bingsoo and it was extremely delicious. It was the best Shaved Ice we have ever tried. It was sweet but not too sweet and had the perfect amount of toppings so every bite could be enjoyed with all the toppings.
We also had the BIO Matcha Caffè Latte and as a hardcore coffee and matcha fan I can say that this was the best drink I‘ve ever had. Perfect balance of matcha and coffee plus the right amount of sweetness. The matcha and coffee quality was outstanding. The presentation of the food and the drinks was very appealing too.
The Café looks very aesthetic and feels very cozy. The owners are very nice and welcoming too. We even got Boong-o-PPang on the side although we didn‘t order it which was a really kind gesture!!
I highly recommend going there at least once (even if it means having to drive for 4 hours)!! We‘ll definitely come back to try more of...
