The food is ok but I recommend avoiding for the attitude of the waiters. They found me a seat outside with no reservation at 1:30 pm on a Saturday. It was a shared table (even though inside was mainly empty) - but whatever, no complaints since I just turned up. First, no-one came to take my order for 5/10 minutes. So I had to walk up to a waiter. When the food came - the meal itself was fine, nothing amazing nothing terrible. Then after I finished, I spent another 5/10 minutes trying to get the waiter's attention. Several waiters passed tending to other outside tables but no-one thought to look up and check on other tables (the restaurant wasn't even busy at this time - a few tables outside and 2 tables inside occupied). So I ended up walking inside to ask for the bill. Without even asking how the meal was or apologising for the delay, the waiter (the one with the moustache) said "The tip is not included. You can leave a 5% or 10% tip". First of all, buddy - this isn't the US. Second, I might be a tourist but I'm no fool. I'm not tipping here if the service is bad. So I clicked "no tip" on the machine and he had the audacity to exclaim "No tip? Really!?". To be clear, if the service had been good (or even average) I would have left a tip. The meal itself was already €26. I asked "Is it mandatory to leave a tip in Germany?" (already checking beforehand that it isn't) and he loudly exclaimed to the earshot of everyone inside "Of course! We live off tips". Then he added, "if you decide to come back, then you know maybe..." I don't know what he meant to add after the "maybe" - I'm not sure how the service could have been much worse unless they'd spat in my food. Anyway at that point I just walked out. Maybe if you're not a tourist, you won't have the same experience as me. But I'd recommend avoiding as a tourist unless you're comfortable with them trying to guilt trip you into leaving a tip regardless of the service.

Before this visit, this used to be one of my favorite Frankfurt restaurants. What happened? I came straight from the airport to the restaurant because I was worried I might not be seated. I might have looked a bit rough with my backpack and two day beard stubbles. I walked in and saw that they were busy though there were at least two tables open and seats at the counter. Outside barely anyone sat except a couple with red blankets. There was space for 20-30 guests. Well? I was turned away. And not friendly. I was first gestured to wait which I patiently did. And then I was told that they had no space. And it was the tone more than the message. I was not welcome! I was not even afforded an expression of regret or thanks for stopping by. I was simply not wanted. Next some German guests simply sat down as I was googling outside alternative restaurants. And when I pointed this out, the manager told me again without any apology for any misunderstanding that if I wanted I could sit outside. I did hoping the restaurant would redeem itself. But no: I was not offered a blanket unlike two other guests. The tone stayed unfriendly and the service was perfunctory. But now the real bummer: The Kaiserschmarrn was served luke warm, it had little apple sauce, and, well, I did not like it. I won't be back. Manners matter! So does tasty food.

Food was great. Service was horrible: bad-attitude waitress. The waitress we had was very rude to us and we definitely will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone as well. We arrived at the restaurant and we saw no one who can bring us to seats (looks like they were all busy inside- it was 2pm) so we went ahead and sat on one of the tables outside which still has some used glasses left on the table (we were fine). When we were ordering, we mentioned to the waitress that these empty glasses are not ours and she directly told us “because you’re supposed to wait for me to tell you where you can sit”. Seriously it looks like she’s already pissed with something else and now us customers had to serve as her emotional sandbag which is totally ridiculous. When she was serving us drinks, she literally “throw” the paper coasters in front each of us. This really upset us and we just wanted to walk out. I really feel sorry for the owner of this restaurant and other employees who work hard on it, but because of this one employee who can’t keep her attitude right, you’re actually losing many customers. We told our hotel who recommended this restaurant to us about our bad experience here and hope they won’t recommend this place to anyone anymore.
