We all know Germans are known for being rude and not polite, especially when it comes to waiters or, in general, people attending in shops and public places (with a few exceptions, as is always the case). Well, that being true, this place even surpasses that extremely low standard. Let me tell you my adventure:
I went here yesterday for a simple brunch with a friend (btw, the brunch revealed itself to be way below average...). I was early, so I entered the place and sat down, since there were not many places left. The waiter (the only male waiter I saw there, so it should be easy for you guys to spot him) didn't seem particularly happy with the fact that I alone was occupying a whole table that was designed for the incredible amount of 2 people! I ask for an English menu; he doesn't like my request and grunts something while fetching it from another table. I select my brunch and I order. It was supposed to come with a juice included and I ask for it. He seems suprised that the juice was included, so I pointed out to him on the menu. He learned. My friend arrives in the meantime and orders her brunch as well. Without me saying anything, she immediately says to me after he left our table: "wow, that guy is really rude". Yup, he was not happy about serving two foreigners, one of them even having the audacity to speak German. Shocker. Well, the brunch proceeded and my friend ordered an extra egg (or juice, I can't remember) at the counter since our loving waiter was occupied with other tables and she was trying not to bother him. It never arrived. At some point she asks the same waiter for the egg and he starts yelling at her because she ordered it at the counter instead of him. She explains that he was occupied with other tables and she wanted to facilitate things. He explodes and starts arguing with her. At this point, having already finished our brunch, we just asked for the bill and to forget the egg. He rushes to the counter and then brings our bill. As I was paying and I gave him a banknote naturally above the due amount, he puts it into his purse without giving me the change. He knew he had offered a service of excellency so naturally he assumed a nice guy like me would be tipping him. Obviously this guy did not deserve any tip (on the contrary, he deserves the wonderful life of unemployment) so I asked for my change back. He furiously puts his hand on his purse and gives me back 4 coins (the change) that he LITERALLY tossed on the table over my napkin that I was still using!!!!!! Ironically and calmly I thanked him for his wonderful politeness and for having put the coins on my napkin. I also informed him that I would be doing this review and I seriously hope his boss is reading this. Maybe I should e-mail them the link anyway....
Read moreCon: This place is cash only which is a bit crazy given that this is not a dingy café and is in the middle of a very advanced city. I’ve been to developing countries which take card. On top of this, they don’t advertise that they are a cash only place.
Depending on what you order, the price can be pricey or cheap. The scrambled eggs, which come as an omelette, come with bread, butter, and two thin slices of cucumber - is about €4. However, if you order, as a side, an avocado cream which is basically like a scoop of avocado blend it adds an additional €4.50 or so. Double the cost of the other meal.
If you order tap water it comes in what looks like a double shot glass.
The pancake is about €4 and then when you add the topping (super tiny serving) it’s an additional €2.
Service is slow. A bit slower than other comparable European places.
Pro: The latte machiatto is good. The pancake is not bad. The salmon sandwich was good. The atmosphere is nice. Location is good.
Recommendations: You should take card, you should readjust the way you price your items so that add ons are not basically double the cost or 50% of the cost of the main meal, and you should serve tap water in...
Read moreWe arrived at 9am when they open. Not many people there yet. Only 3 tables (include us) but the staffs are soooo slow. The staffs were not attentive at all and not very friendly. When we entered the cafe. they were not busy but they let us wait so long until they took us to the table. After we got a menu. It took at least 15 minutes until they came to take the order. We ordered breakfast plate which include a basket of breads. I asked if i can change some breads to be croissant. I said i wanted to have 1 white bread and 1 croissant. But i got 1 croissant and many kind of breads except a white bread.. but that's ok. My breakfast plate with egg, cheese, ham, cream cheese and salami was very delicious. But breads were not good at all. Especially croissant. It's not really a croissant. It was bread that look like croissant. The price is too expensive for the foodquality that you get. Good location. Cold pressed juice was great. Coffee was very good too. Cakes look yummy. They have many kind of cakes but unfortunately i...
