Very interesting concept and twist on the hot pot version of these type of food. You walk in, pick everything you want to mix (it's all be priced on a flat rate based on weight rather than the items you choose. When approaching the counter, you select the base "soup" you want it cooked in. You'll get a number and go take a seat and wait for your number to be called (oddly enough in Chinese 😅). I always pick the most spicy soup available, but the tomato one is also good. The food was prepared rather quickly, and it was delicious. The staff was rather short in their demeanor and somewhat unhelpful, I debated if it was due to a language barrier, but they attitude seemed the same even when speaking their own language to other customers. The interaction with staff is minimal, and so it doesn't take away from the rating of the place. For sure, it's a great choice if you'd enjoy hot pot (and for about half the cost). Will definitely come...

A friend of mine recommended this place to me. It’s a Chinese restaurant that serves Mala hotpot.
When enter the restaurant, you’ll get to pick the meat, vegetables, tofu, noodles and etc. There are many options available and all taste so good. YWhen you finish picking your hotpot, the bowl will be weighted. The price depends on the weight of your hotpot. Around 2.8 euros/100 gram. I think if you have the hunger of a normal person, 100g-200g is already enough. You can also choose the spiciness. (Choose carefully it is very spicy! Even for an asian) After that, they will cook it for you. You can choose the sauce while waiting. It tastes so authentic and delicious. The owner is very kind and friendly. The price is not expensive at all. The restaurant is also very easy to find.
Warning: There’s no English menu. Only German & Chinese. Warning2: It...
Read moreI recently got into Malatang and Xiang Xiang is definitely a solid spot! They have an amazing variety of ingredients to choose from, and even for someone like me who tries to eat low carb now and then – finding shirataki (konjac) noodles on the menu was a big win.
The place is super clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful, especially if it’s your first time.
The only downside for me was the broth – I picked the one with red chilis, expecting that classic mala kick, but it turned out to be quite creamy (maybe coconut milk?), which mellowed the Sichuan peppercorn tingle I usually look for.
Still, I’ll definitely be back – next time I’ll try the green chili broth and hope for that signature numbing...
