Currently serving lunch, Taqueria La Original opens for dinner next Tuesday June 28, presenting authentic moles and several Mexican gourmet classics.
Extremely exclusive tequilas and agaves complement their bar menu.
The dining rooms are casually & modernly elegant, exuding a truly upbeat vibe.

Accompanied by my wife Christine, we ordered:
° Barbacoa Quesadilla
° Guacamole & Totopos (Chips)
° Black Bean Soup
° Pastor Pork Taco
° Barbacoa Prime Rib Taco
° Carnitas Pork Taco
Closing my eyes, my mouth said I was eating at Limosneros ~ arguably Mexico City's #1 authentic Mexican restaurant!
All of our meats were expertly slow roasted and scrumptiously seasoned.
The fresh steaming hot tortillas were made from authentic ground "nixtamal" ~ the 1,000 year old method created by the Aztecs, instead of common RTU corn flour.
Our guacamole was exotically flavored and our black bean soup was thick enough to enjoy as a dip.
The green tomatillo sauce was authentically piquant and our red chile sauce ~ super excelente.

Checked the menu and selected an item offering multiple dishes(3 different ones) and a sweet. The menu was telling that my choice was for 2 persons and costed 65 eur. We sat down and waited excitedly. The first dish-nachos with lettuce. Second-nachos with sauce, third-nachos with just 5-6 grams of grinded meat. Nothing that you could eat. My mouth started bleeding from the dry nachos. We both had enough, wanted to leave immediately. The waiter sad: don’t you want the sweet? I sad -no. The bill he presented was showing 130 eur + 2 biers that I ordered. What a surprise!!! I asked for clarification and the waiter told me that my choice that was for two people, had a 65 eur per person. I asked to see the menu again and there it was, in very very tiny letters there was a sign: pp, which as per waiter means per person. The menu is a real trap. The food terrible. Waited 40 mins for our order (had to follow up several times… even for the drinks)
Order got booked incorrectly (got corrected by the staff once we made them aware)
Food was amazing though not 100% „authentic“ (Spicy mayo and fried onions on Barbacoa Taco, Pastor out of Chicken etc.)
Prices are ridiculously high (5€ for a Soda, close to 9$ for 2 Tacos etc.)
Staff was mostly friendly and welcoming (with the exception of the guy in the orange shirt at the back of the restaurant)
I can fully understand that processes in the first days have not yet been fully internalized but the performance must still fit the price, which was not matching at all. The quality of the tacos is undoubtedly 1A but it is still hard to imagine that customers are willing to pay such prices for such a small quantity in the long run.
