Arkaden-Cafe — Restaurant in Hamburg

This is my first review ever on google and I am doing it because I think this coffee place deserves a review to call awareness as there is room for improvement. I would give to this place 5 but I am giving a 4 because I would not be fair to better places in worse location, but only for the location this place deserves a three out of 5. Now let us discuss the additional star. I am evaluating with four stars because I read a lot of bad comments from others about this place, about the waitress being not kind. In my case, I had a reservation and because of having a reservation I was given the opportunity to sit down wherever I wanted, upstairs, downstairs or inside. They had reserved three tables for me! Even if not true, this is what they told me and I found it so nice from them. This is already one star more. Why I am not giving a fifth star. Well, the coffee it was "ok" the oats milk on top was cold though and I think they should renew the coffee machine in accordance with the location. The owner should invest on a much better coffee machine and appliances and why not to say also on the well being of the waitress. The waitress looked stress at all times, she tried to be nice but she was alone working and stressed out, I gave tip and I have never seen someone thanking so nicely for a tip. This coffee place could be a 5/5, the location is already superb but the waitress needs to be better treated (maybe paid more?) and the coffee machine should be changed to a higher quality one. With all due respect I would like to this this opportunity to encourage the owner of this place to stop being so greedy and start investing on the place. When you have a place located in such an marvellous place you are part of the attractions of the city and you should do your utmost to deliver quality product and service to leave tourists with a good taste. I am a local so I can evaluate objectively here but as a tourist I would most likely also be upset with the quality of the coffee provided not in accordance with...

I would give 0 score if could. If you want to have a bad Day, try this cafe, the worst service you can find and incompetence of waitress who simply cannot communicate and handle feedback. The only good thing is the view, except that everything else is a disaster! Waitress shouting at non-german speaking customer, very limited food choice, speedy waitress who just did not want to have any eye contact with customers. I dropped my scarf while the waitress walked by many times, no reminder, nothing. And if you do not eat raw meat , do not go there. They serve raw meat on bread, and if you ask, They will look at you like you are stupid and like it is just normal to eat totally raw meat! This place has two nice things going for it: a beautiful location and nice-looking sweet foods. Unfortunately, I paid way too much for a thimbleful of a mediocre 4 Euro cappuccino plus a depressing breakfast plate. The toast was literally the saddest and driest white bread I've ever seen in Germany, and the side salad had rotten pieces of lettuce in it. The eggs were greasy and unseasoned. I am at a loss for what is going on there. Perhaps the owner grudgingly agreed to add savory breakfast to the menu and has cut every cost imaginable to make it somewhat profitable. Just a sad...
