Steakhouse Oro Negro — Restaurant in Mainz

Was in Mainz on business, brought my daughters on the trip to show them the other side of the family heritage (I'm Choctaw and wife is German). Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles and open conversation, we were seated and ordered drinks and given the menu. The wait staff, upon hearing that my girls are part German, couldn't stop chatting. It was so welcoming, my girls couldn't stop talking about it.

We ordered ribeye and lamb with vegetables, my girls had never had lamb before and couldn't get enough of it. Everything was so good and cooked perfectly. Upon settling the bill, we were invited to come back before we had to fly back to the US.

The second visit was even better, we ordered two lamb, vegetables, the girls were in heaven, if only for the time we there.

The staff asked that if we are ever in the area, to please come back through to see them again. I will, I'm returning in February 2025.

The filet was exactly how a filet should be. I added a side of chimichuri and it was tasty and probably the beat I had in Germany. The flavor of the steak without the chimichuri was flavorful too. If you’re looking for a different take on steak then this is your place. Service was great. The Server was polite and friendly with a smile. Hard to find these days. The service was far away from suitable for this place. The food was not good enough if you compare food quality and prices. I have ordered beef fillet medium done and it came very well done on the top and raw inside. The french fries were like in Mc Donalds- getting cold in a few minutes and no taste at all. Salad was not fresh. The garlic bread was not home made. There is no option to choose a home made lemonade. The location is great. Wont visit for...
