We found the Kaffeerosterei at Viktualienmarkt through google when seeking out coffee shops in the area. They receive many positive responses from locals who review here on google so we decided to give them a try during a recent visit to the city.

We found a queue formed up outside Kaffeerosterei when we arrived. This is usually a good thing when it comes to food and drinks. We ordered double espressos and a florentine, finding everything tried to be very good. Espresso was strong but not too bitter, it was smooth and flavourful. The florentine was the perfect sweet complement to the espresso, making for a great afternoon coffee and snack break.

There are some standing tables a couple places to take a seat and enjoy your coffees and florentines.

In the end, we liked our stop here and would gladly return for another round of doppios, to try their other coffee drinks and to enjoy more...

Incredibly good coffee! The regular coffee is very good (I recommend the crema), but they really nail the decaf!! Both coffees have a rich profile without bitterness, the finish of the decaf has a bit more chocolatey flavors, which hits my likings spot on. Also, waiters are very swift and still take time to answer questions patiently. They are friendly and welcoming. The stall is nicely arranged and they even have a few seats & bar tables. And they sell the coffee beans too. All in all a great spot. I highly recommend going there. It‘s a small spot and quite popular (well deserved), one might have to wait in line for a bit but it is absolutely worth it!

(I did not try the florentine cookies due to dietary restrictions but they...

My experience at Kaffeerösterei Viktualienmarkt was truly special. The café is small but full of character, and being right in the heart of the market gives it a lively and unique vibe. I tried their espresso—it was strong, perfectly roasted, and you could really taste their passion for coffee roasting. I also had a cappuccino, which was smooth and well-balanced. What impressed me the most is the variety of beans from different countries, each with its own distinct flavor profile. It’s the perfect spot to grab a high-quality coffee while strolling through the market. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. For me, this has become a must-stop whenever I...

Great location, great staffs, very fast service, freshly roasted beans at good prices. The Espresso beans are very dark roasted though, darker than any other Munich roastery I tried, and you can see it visually from the comparison with the Espresso beans from Square Mile. Contrast to some other reviews, I find it relatively easy to over-extract and get bitter coffee. I'd only recommend it to people who don't want any acidity in the cup and more into milk-based drinks. For specialty coffee enthusiasts, this is likely too dark.
