We were a group of 4 and arrived right before 6pm on Monday, July 31, 2023. I can’t be sure, but it’s possible that the employee that helped us was the manager (she had a white button-up). She informed us that they would be closing at 7 and that the terrace was closed and no to go cups were available. We informed her we would have our coffee inside and ordered 3 Americanos and 1 latte. While the interaction felt a bit rushed, we understood the would be closing in the next hour.
While sitting, we noticed that the employee that helped us gave the same information to other customers as they came in, but it felt more like a rant than information being shared. It became so annoying that we noticed other customers turning their heads. There were awkward stares all around and collectively it seemed that we were intruding on their closing duties.
It was difficult not to overhear all of the interactions that the staff had with customers - they were incredibly rude with everyone. I reassured a customer who was in disbelief of the service and insisted that the staff was rude and that she wasn’t the problem. When we went to pay, a new staff member in a green shirt barked the same speech at us and we let her know that were trying to pay for our coffees so we could go. I asked her if they had a business card and she said no. She asked if I wanted to speak to the manager (she was downstairs) and I said no. She then offered me the managers number and I said yes. She then insisted I speak to the manager in person and I asked for the number instead since she had offered it. She declined and we kept going back and forth - her telling me to speak to the manager and me asking for the number she offered. In the end, she said she didn’t know why she offered the managers number and told me couldn’t give it to me.
To the Ralph’s Coffee staff - the customers that are visiting are going for the experience. I witnessed you ruining the ambience for everyone in there. Even if you have to close and leave right at 7pm, you can still say that politely. At one point I heard one of your staff members say “it is what it is” to a customer. If YOU don’t want customers after 6pm, talk to RL about changing that so that you can complete your closing duties without putting pressure on the customers. I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but after reading reviews following our visit, it seems like this is an ongoing problem for you that could really cost you.
Overall, the coffee was good, location was lovely, but the staff is terrible and could use training in customer service or consider working elsewhere if you’re annoyed by customers presence so much. The staff are bullies and I was incredibly appalled that the level of service provided is linked with the Ralph...
Read moreNew Update on August 2025: The cafe change always their ingredients so I’m kindly mentioned that all desserts I’ve left a review, perhaps it all ain’t the same as it used to be. Since then, I didn’t return to buy any Almonds Croissant.
Update on Feb 2025: The cafe get new deserts as chocolate cake, new cookie as Caramel Cookie. (before they have only 2 type cookie: Double Cookie and Oat Cookie). For me personally, I would choose the New York Cheesecake over the Chocolate Cake. However this new cake is lightly and thick of real choco, so it’s good as well. About the new cookie, I don’t like the texture of it at all. So honestly for this and the brownie, I won’t purchase again. They also have new season drink strawberry matcha, which cost 6.5€. I think this is over priced like 1€ add extra for just a pink sugar.. There would be place where provide homemade strawberry matcha, which don’t cost 6€. And don’t forget to mention which milk you want for your drink, sometimes they won’t ask you. About the barista and waiter, they are one of the kindness, caring and lovely 🙆♀️
Old Review before 2025: Very busy place but it’s one of the best pastries in town. They have vegan option, really good NY cheese cake, almond croissant is amazing good. Vegan Croissant quality is an inconsistent taste, some good days, some days ain‘t worth the price. Double cookie is recommend for sweet teeth 🫠 The rest of pastries aren’t my choice but fine, brownie and lemon cake was too dry so I didn’t order again. They have new sandwiches in menu, I tried the mushroom and it was good. The service waiter, they are so lovely that I always take time to come here even at the last minute. Some don’t speak good the language but they tried their best 🫶 Very...
Read moreThe service is horrible, after order I was waiting for my coffee for 10 minutes, while the waters were serving other people after me. Then when i told that i hadn't received an order yet, the lady at coffee machine started nervously saying that she was going to make it now, but that was another drink. Meanhile, i continued waiting and went deeper to the rooms, as the cafe became full with people, another waitress started very nervously telling me that i was staying in a wrong place and that because i'm staying in tge wrong place they didn't give me my order :) it was hilarious. In addition, we ordered coffee and wanted to drink it inside, but the order was done in disposable to go cups. The quality of coffee is also very average, though the price is...
