Kayak Ice Cream Store – Plaka — Restaurant in Athens

Went to your restaurant in Athens. The service was abhorrent. We ordered food and drinks for 6 people. We even left a tip. My step daughter ordered an extra scoop of ice cream as we were leaving to go. She told them we were leaving as soon as her father was out of the bathroom. Within 3 minutes, 2 of their staff came to scream at her to tell her to leave. We told her we were just waiting for my husband to get out of the bathroom and we would go and they still insisted she had to leave. So we of course were upset. Then this woman had the audacity to continue interrupting us, not listening, telling us we werw wrong after we paid over 60 euros for coffee and ice cream.

She then proceeded to yell in greek while pointing at us, obviously skewing her version of reality to talk about us.

This woman, and the rest of the staff by the location outside the acropolis should be fired and never be employed where they need to meet with humans or any animals.

The multiple reviews commenting on the awful service, the criminal pricing and hiding prices, and abhorrent service should have this place shut down. The staff's behaviour makes me question if they even wash their hands after using the toilet. They are...

Let’s start with the obvious… this place is eye-wateringly expensive.

Pros:

1: The quality of the Oreo cheesecake was lovely, with the black wafer crumbs and a scoop of Banoffee Ice cream.

2: The service was efficient, they made it clear their prices are higher if you choose to eat in.

3: A good selection of items to choose from, it’s clear the quality is good.

Cons:

1: These are silly prices.. €12+ euros of a slice of cheesecake and one scoop of ice cream.

2: A milkshake cost around €10 Euros? Is it made of gold?

3: I’m not sure why they charge more to eat in than take away? It doesn’t encourage people to stay and eat or to attract customers in my opinion.

Overall, I would try this place again, but be prepared to have a hole in your pocket.. these deserts cost nearly as much as a main course meal in...

It starts with ordering, they ask if your going to order at a table or take it with you. We ordered to go. The server was rude. They then weigh your purchase. After we paid for our expensive Gelato , we stepped outside and observe the outside sitting area with some customers but more empty tables then customers. We opted not to sit there and instead sat at a 2 person table next to the front door. We started to eat our Gelato and found it to be more grainy then flavor.
