Vanilia Bistro — Restaurant in Athens

Vanilla bistro was absolutely delicious and super friendly! It is the very first place we ate at in Greece and it quickly became our favorite. The food has such a quality of ingredients, presentation, and flavor. From the breakfast sandwiches to the cheese platter to the drinks, everything blew us away with the extraordinary tastes. We also really adored our regualr waitress Avangelica. She was very sweet and had a bright and friendly demeanor and aided our touristic cluelessness with patience and grace, she also recommended great greek dishes. We ate our way through the breakfast and dinner menu after visiting a few days in a row. Many restaurants we ate at just left us with a sense of disappointment as they did not meet the high expectations that vanilla bistro set for us since day one. I visited this place on the morning of Saturday, May 24th. Sadly, it was the worst dining experience I had during my trip to Athens. The food was well below average, the restaurant was dirty, and there were stray animals around. What shocked me most was seeing a cockroach on the wall—right above the food prep area, next to the kitchen and the restroom. That alone is a serious health hazard. I had already eaten scrambled eggs with salmon by then, and I deeply regret it. This place should be inspected by the health authorities. I strongly advise others...

Such a great little bistro, with an interesting menu and charming decor. Had the lentil salad with cherry tomatoes, feta and mackarel, while my husband had the ravioli stuffed with spinach and cheese. We both had the house syrah-merlot and finished with the cherry spoon dessert (I could have eaten the whole pot of that!)
