If you’re strolling along the old port and craving mezze-style Greek food with a view, Captain’s is a cozy and casual spot worth stopping at. It’s right on the waterfront with a perfect view of the sea and passing boats—ideal for a laid-back lunch or sunset dinner. 🌅🍽️
What stands out: • Tapas-style menu: As the name suggests, it’s all about sharing here. Think fresh grilled calamari, crispy fried zucchini, juicy meatballs, and creamy dips—all brought out in waves. Perfect for trying a bit of everything. • Vibe: Super relaxed and local. Tables spill out onto the promenade, so you’re literally dining by the water. Great for people-watching too. • Drinks: Cold beers, local wines, and classic cocktails. Nothing over-the-top but hits the spot. • Service: Warm and quick, even when the place gets busy (which it often does, especially at golden hour).
Pricing: Very reasonable for Mykonos. Small plates range from €6–12, and mains are around €15–20. You can easily share a great meal without overspending.
We got the shared sea food platter for 2 which was worth it and we were full after this. Also very good experience to try different types of sea food.
The gentleman that served us was very hospitable and accommodating.
It’s not fine dining—and that’s the point. It’s about good food, good company, and good views. Whether you’re in for a casual lunch or slow dinner by the sea, Captain’s delivers exactly what you want from a Greek taverna.
Honest food, seafront views, and true Mykonos charm.

Read moreThis restaurant overlooked the waters and is lovely though we couldn't see much as we found the place after the sun set.
The service was very good but a bit slow as the restaurant was pretty full and people were waiting outside for a table.
As a couple of women beside us invited new friends to sit with them despite people waiting in line outside, the server asked us if we were okay as they were sitting quite close to us. Only when we confirmed it was fine did he allow the new friends to sit.
We ordered prawns in ouzo creamy sauce which was yum. So, we ordered it again.
Pork in lemon leek and mustard sauce was too salty for my liking. The dish didn't come with anything on the side. So, I could eat the pork only with the pita bread we had ordered to have with the hummus. Hubby gobbled it up even though the salt was a bit more for him.
We ordered 3 rounds of pita bread with the hummus. We liked the hummus only after we added lime to it. Otherwise it was okay but still missing something. I'm thinking that maybe the Greek hummus is different.
The ouzo drink was good. Hubby loved it. I didn't. I ordered a strawberry mojito which was safe and good.
The girls who invited new friends ordered a seafood platter. Maybe we should have ordered...
Read moreLocal Draft/Craft Beer here! That sign caught my eye as a beer lover. I ordered one 500cl and asked what flavor it was and that got lost in translation. Saw the name of the brewery on the glass so I Googled the website and showed the server the list and again asked what flavor and was told Lager. It was good but not my ideal flavor which is IPA. The Mykonu beer on tap was good and while I was tempted to walk to the Brewery for a taste/tour it was hot and sitting at a waterfront location seemed Ideal. Great people watching so I decided to go for a second glass (ena akoma) which came promptly but while talking with tourists at a neighboring table the server must have understood that I like IPA. He came back a few minutes later and said next one was on him. I'm two beers in on a hot sunny day wondering do I really want a third when he brings me a goblet of IPA Whooho! I was doing my best impression of knowing how to speak Greek (Efcharisto) THANK YOU and I think that helped build the understanding/compassion for my desire for an IPA. Wish all three had been that IPA because it was super tasty after being in Turkey and Greece for two weeks without a good IPA. Alas I was only there one day but it made for a perfect...
