Below average experience/tourist trap. I walked up and down the road trying to figure out which restaurant looked the most authentic and this was my choice in the end (others looked like sports bars with Gyros for as little as €3 which seemed way too cheap).
I walked in as a solo traveller, was seated quickly which was nice. Given a menu with options which seemed quite pricey for the vibe the place had but fine. Picked a couple of options but was unable to have these when served because they were part of an earlier menu slot and had to get the same thing but more expensive, basically. I'm not shy of spending money on good food though, so fine.
The food arrived, and wasn't great. €23 euros for a can of coke, a tiny portion of chips, meat not being very special or much of it, and salad items just basic (a couple of slices of tomato, lettuce and cucumber).
I went to pay, the bill was written as €23 euros, felt very expensive but paid it of course. Then once paid, the notification came through on my phone and was €24 euros. I'm not sure where that came from. Maybe service? But wasn't advised of it and the service wasnt very attentive anyway so not sure it would be worth it.
For context, I messaged two Greek friends about this to find out if this is normal and they both found it hilarious that I'd paid €23/24 euros for a unimpressive gyros plate and a coke.
By contrast, I went to an independent restaurant later, has a beef stifado, plate of pita, taztziki, soup to start, baklava to finish, and a beer and it cost only €3 euros more and was both great in portion size and quality. Quite the difference.
I don't usually give low reviews so I'm not the sort to purposely complain about businesses but I feel like people need to know that this is what to...
Read moreI visited this establishment with my wife during our holiday in Rhodes. As British tourists, we were disappointed by our experience here, making it our least enjoyable moment on the island. Regrettably, this has soured our desire to return.
Tourists like myself and others should be wary as we encountered discrepancies between the menu prices and what we were charged. It appears to be a deliberate attempt to deceive tourists, as they conveniently remove the menus after ordering and inflate the prices on the bill. Payment is accepted only in cash, compounding the issue.
We ordered a simple Cola and Orange Juice, priced at €4 and €4.50 on the menu. However, when the bill arrived, we were shocked to see we were being charged €8 for the Orange Juice and the Cola at €4.50. They then demanded this in cash (Not stated anywhere visibly) This unexpected increase left us scrambling to withdraw more cash from the nearby ATM, which only dispensed in €20 increments with a hefty fee.
We were then coerced into paying €12.50 for our drinks. Feeling exploited and deceived, I firmly stood my ground and negotiated the bill down to €10.50, he made it sound like he was doing me a favour... Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident in Rhodes, as some establishments seem to operate with two sets of menus, targeting tourists with inflated prices.
For those considering dining here, exercise caution and be wary of scamming practices. This experience has left a bitter taste in our mouths, tarnishing our...
Read moreTERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Mean server, expensive, SCAM, mediocre food. Take out advice and go somewhere else! What a terrible service, the lady serving us was really mean. They offer 3 euro gyros which we liked to try, but they were not happy that we only took this cheap meal Immediately her style of serving is changed. She rolled her eyes and multiple times showed us other options or offered to give us a large portion, we politely declined because we specificly were walking around looking out for a small gyros as a snack. But it really started when we ordered a water. She was clearly not happy about that (it was hot day, we didn’t feel like anything else). She took the menus and THREW to the side with a BIG EYE ROLL. What a weird way of reacting as an adult woman. Then when it came to the bill. After letting us wait because she was talking with her friend, she gave us an way to high bill. She told us the water was 6 euros. 6 euros for a water? The menu said 2,40. But she told us she gave us the big bottle which we didn’t ask for. We asked for 2 smalls. But also how can a small 0,5 liter bottle be 2,40 and a big 1 liter be 6,10 euro’s??? I told her it was a SCAM which she responded with that we were cheap people. Guy at the entree was okey, girl cleaning up was sweet. But the lady completely ruined out experience. Gyros is mediocre, takes like any other gyros, so please for your own sake, go to the place next door or around the corner....
