Belvio Palaca - More like Cheaters' Palace
A disappointing experience that I would not wish on anyone else.
After reading some reviews On TripAdvisor, where most people had written that Belmo Palace was really good or fantastic, my family and I decided to have our dinner here. We were welcomed by a young man who sat us at a table that should have been cleaned before we were seated there, as there was bird poo on the table. At this point we should have left the place. We asked for the table to be cleaned and that happened fast. We got our menu, which had been translated to many languages. In the menu, there was pictures of all the dishes. I decided to order the kleftiko, my wife ordered mousakka, Tazziki with pita bread and our daughter ordered a Schnitzel with fries. The drinks came fast and the food came faster than expected. To us, it seemed as if all the food was pre-made. Even the Tazziki. The Tazziki seemed as if it came from a bucket. It seemed lumpy and as if it needed to be stirred. Before the three of us had shared four tiny pieces of pita bread with Tazziki, the main courses arrived. The Moussaka, which was clearly pre-made, wasn't hot and needed more time in the microwave. And it was obvious that it came from a microwave! The Schnitzel was nicely arranged with vegetables and fries that were store bought, frozen. The meat was covered in breading. It was beyond overcooked and so dry that is was difficult to cut through. And full of tendons. The Kleftiko was a sad excuse for a Kleftiko. I have never tried a worse Kleftiko. The ones I have had before was made from slow-cooked lamb shank with vegetables. And all of it was cooked together. It is a dish we have tried many times before. This one was served in tin-foil and when I opened it, I was met with a dish without a scent, consisting of potato pieces from the oven, carrots that had been frozen, a tasteless brown sauce, a tiny bit of feta cheese and some meat I think was lamb but definitely not lamb shank. And none of it was cooked together. It seemed like all of it had just been thrown into the tin-foil. I took two bites of this and did not wish to eat more. After our food had been served, we repeatedly tried to contact our waitor, with the use of both signals and verbal communication, but he ignored us completely until we got the check. The quality of the food did not match the prices. All in all this was the worst dining experience I have had during my many...
Read moreThe food was great. We had a delicious moussaka and Greek salad, the atmosphere is pleasant, but what makes this restaurant outstanding is the waiter. Sorry I didn't ask for his name. He wasn't just polite, he showed free-hearted interest about where we were from and even said a few words in our language. He also hat a chit chat with us and at the end he brought us two shots ouzo on the house and when we were leaving, he almost ran after us to give us a big bottle of nice cold water. Just like that. Some people are just good. My friend, if you read this, I want to thank you once again for this unforgettable experience! God bless you and hope to see you again one day!...
Read morePerfect service, perfect food. During our visit it Rodos we made 7 days 7 different places for dinner. Im glad that this restaurant was the last one. This is the only restaurant where we actually got fed. The waiters are smiling, supportive, and easy to speak with them.
We ate two different fresh fishes - sea bass and sea beam. Both fishes ware the best fishes which we ate during our visit to Rodos. The portions are satisfying large. There is a garden so the smokers can smoke without causing problems to the none smokers.
P.s the lamb and stuffed papers are looking amazing. Next time will try them.
The place is clean and quiet. 10/10 recommended...
