I'm a bit conflicted writing this review, but I do so for safety reasons.
The people working here and the food are both great. The reason I give a low star review, unfortunately, is due to the safety of this shop.
The shop has a spiral staircase leading upstairs (where bathrooms are located) with no handrailing of any sort. My 9 year old son fell from the top of these stairs, hit his jaw on a ledge at the top of the stairs on the way down, and tumbled to the bottom. Tears and bruises only - extremely lucky.
I know this is Greece, not everything is up to North American or even other European country standards, but when the workers started freaking out, asking if we needed an ambulance, staff arguing with each other, I get the impression this may not have been the first time something like this happened. Obviously, given the food offerings, this is a place children would be drawn to, so I feel this is a large oversight.
The staff response and desire to help was admirable. I don't want to take anything away from their efforts to help after the fact.
I know accidents happen, but be careful with children on these stairs. Hopefully this review leads to some sort of handrail being installed (as my son was trying to grasp onto something, anything, to blunt his fall) - if that occurs I'd be happy to...
Read moreLiterally the cutest ice cream shop I've ever visited. First impression although was no good as we were randomly walking on backstreets of the city on our was back to our hotel, as my husband told me we were stopping there for ice cream for the kids. I thought it was a quite and distant spot out of the city rush and charm, but as I entered the shop the whole experience changed. Super exciting menu with lots of variety in how you can get your ice cream or waffles or bubble waffles or crepe served. Ice cream in a cone or in cup or in a large bucket. Two large disks with 16 x 2 variants of ice cream flavors. Very clean and appealing. Cute decorations and art in the whole shop with cute quotes and pictures. Lots of space for seating both indoor and outdoor. Drinks and coffee also available. The menu is available in Greek and also in English for tourists. We enjoyed our visit very much and each one of us 5 adults and kids walked out of the shop happy and satisfied - by the choices we made and how the whole experience was for each one of us. Definitely recommended to dessert lovers and a big thumb up! And extra pluss point for the employees being clean and good looking and giving the whole shop a nice impression and...
Read moreLooking for special flavours of icecream, this is the place to go to, even if you have to walk a while. Great flavours, friendly staff. It is very welcoming. They do pancakes too, I have not tried them yet, but they ook and smell great. Now, a few days later, I can tell you about the pancakes: they are great. We had a sweet pancake, perhaps a bit to sweet because of nutella or sometjong like it. One can buy savoury ones too. Good for a complete lunch. What I liked is the fact that changing the icecream from the menu with the pancake, was no problem. You can sit and relax or take the icecream away and eat it while you walk. Big portions or scoops. The price is fair. One thing, just to show it is not all great, the toilet has no lock, that can be embarressing. More restaurants on Rhodos have that problem. While you are there, cross the road and have a look at the grafitti if you like that kind of art. The beach us only 4 minutes away. If you go on one of the hop-on busses, stop at the Blue Sky City Beach hotel, walk 350 meters up the road on the left (first left) looking towards the hotel. You will find it on your...
