What a shame, I feel the need to write this. The restaurant looks lovely from the outside and we were greeted by a very well mannered man, who I can only assume was the owner. He showed us to an upstairs table (at our request) and was very accommodating. That's when things started going down hill. My wife asked to taste the house wines, red and white to see which she preferred and the waitress looked very strangely. I know it's house wine, but there was a massive difference (white was sweet dishwater). Starters - fried meatballs (actually very deep fried), edible I will just about say. With a plate of Mussels, which were small and no better than frozen supermarket ones. Main courses - my wife's chicken in creamy sauce was fine. My "tender" Beef with Daily pasta was 80 percent fat and gristle. Absolutely disgusting. A new plate was offered, but given the beef cuts, I was sure to get the same. Limoncelo to finish, had very little alcohol and was very watery. In conclusion, We would never eat here again, and as tourists, the restaurant probably don't care. The waitress upstairs in the Jean jacket, needs a very serious customer care course. Begrudgingly, we paid our bill and left. You have...
Read moreThe restaurant looks beautiful. However the food is not what you get like others have stated in the comments. I ordered pasta primavera but I got pasta with eggplants, zucchini and mushrooms. None of these ingredients were mentioned in the menu description and pasta primavera does not have these ingredients as basis to the dish commonly.
The "young rude blonde waitress" mentioned in previous comments told me that this is not a 5 star restaurant but this is a taverna and do I need to be explained what a taverna is. According to the waitress the chefs at taverna makes the order of what is currently fresh and it might be different than on the menu and it's vegan so it does not matter she said.
If I had known I get pasta with mushrooms and zucchini I would not even have ordered the pasta. on the first place. The pasta should have called "vegan pasta with seasonally changing ingredients".
SO PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU DO NOT MIND SURPRISES WITH...
Read moreIf you wondered where Basil Fawlty went after Fawlty Towers ended, I can tell you: he left Torquay, settled in Rhodes and opened a taverna with an open-air, roof top called La Casa. Rhodes town - old and new - has many fantastic restaurants serving seafood that rivals any. This is not one of them. However, over a long holiday in beautiful Rhodes, I became addicted to the sheer entertainment value of dining at La Casa where nothing is predictable - except the unexpected. I loved the gentle waitresses and their patience; I marvelled at the economically priced food; I delighted in being unexpectedly moved from my table so that a larger group could be accommodated; I was even thrilled when my dessert was swept away for another customer. Nevertheless, I kept coming back. Give it a go. It may be your...
