Kitchen Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Thessaloniki

I visited the location together with my girlfriend. In general I’m coming here for coffee / drinks quite often and I know that some things are not perfect. But this time, things really got me upset. As soon as we approached the place, we saw one of the staff on top of a trolley being pushed by one of the restaurant’s food / beverage suppliers. This was happening exactly at the main entrance of the restaurant. When we got inside my girlfriend almost got hit by this trolley since the “show” was continuing inside. And all this, in front of the restaurant’s concierge ( which seemed to have a good time as well watching them). No apology was presented in the beginning. Only after I addressed the issue, a pathetic sorry came out from the girl.

Inside, the waiter came pretty fast in the beginning. We ordered and the food came really fast. The meat was very good in general, except the meatballs which were raw. During our meal, no one came to ask if everything was ok. After we finished eating, we waited between 20 and 30 minutes but nobody came to pick up the dirty dishes (for the table next to us as well).

I asked to talk with the restaurant manager. He came and without presenting himself asked what is the issue. I presented him my points of view but during our conversation he seemed very eager to just finish with it. In general during our meal we could see him in a constant rush which did not made us feel relaxed.

After 5 minutes the waiter came and throw on the table a plate with a huge piece of cake and on his way back he mumbled “ enjoy” . Not long after, the restaurant manager came out from one of the corners and with his finger showing at the cake said “ that is for your critics “ We did not eat the cake since it was huge and mostly because it seemed that was just given to us because “maybe” this needs to be done if someone has a complain?

I have asked to pay at the end. The waiter came without a receipt or a total and by mouth he informed me how much I need to pay. I paid and he left. Again, no receipt provided. I have asked another waiter for the receipt and had to wait for it .

Other things worth mentioning and observed during our dinner.

Most of the waiters are polite but not trained. They are in a constant state of “ having fun “ Some run around the restaurant, some hug each other. Not to mention the guy with the grey jacket ( I guess the Dj) which was constantly flirting with one of the kitchen girl.

Bathrooms as well, need a lot more attention.

As a conclusion, food was great. Service was good in the beginning and bad at the end. Staff needs training, together with the restaurant manager who does not show / know / care what a quality experience is.

Out of 10, kitchen team gets a 10 and the restaurant staff a 4.

The place you are working at, it’s a business. The owner, pays you to take care of your guests. He does not pay you to have fun at work. You can do this in your free time. Come to work, act professional, finish, leave and have fun. And if you were not offered ...

We arrived to the Kitchen Bar very hopeful - unfortunately hopes remained hopes. We sat down at table for two, waiter approached us and asked if we are here for beverage or food - answeared that for both. After 5 minutes he brought plates and water. We haven't been given any menus. I asked for ashtray, waiter confirmed he will bring it - he hasn't. After 20 minutes of waiting I approached a woman working there and asked politely if there is a long wait time - she confirmed that for outside tables it is 10 minutes - replied that we wait 20 already. I returned to table, another waitress approached and asked if we are here for beverage or food - again replied that for both and asked for ashtray. Of course no ashtray was brought to us, I just took it from another table. Still no menus. I QRed menu, we picked drinks and food. After another 7 minutes another waiter approached, took orders. First thing brought to us was receipt (XD). I ordered fish of the day -price 0 on menu - costed 26 EUR (sic!) and never been informed of price beforehand. Boyfriend ordered beef cretan speciality and we both had coffees. Total price - 55 EUR. Fish was burnt, amount of gravy smaller than a teaspoon, no spices (literally) were used in whole dish. Really, I make better meals at home, and I'm pretty retarded at cooking. After finishing the meal, we just wanted to pay and leave. Of course that was not easy as well. Another different waiter approached to take our plates, we communicated need to pay - he replied that he will come back after cleaning a table. As you can already imagine, he hasn't and we waited another 10 minutes until aproaching ourselves different waiter and again asked to just take our money. In total, almost 2 hours of my life was wasted. Place is one of the most popular on coast, looking very fancy. It really did not look understaffed, waiters were just hanging and joking around with themselves and other guests. I highly recommend to stay away from this place as it's really overpriced, unkind (maybe to foreign customers) and just fully unproffessional. I spend money on Greece mainly for discovering and enjoying local food and this has become the worst place I have been into, not only here but entire world. You will have much better experience with buying plain bread and sitting on the bench. Don't do it to yourself and...

Regarding the positive comments,we would recommend the delicious dishes,we ordered spaghetti twice. We would also add our favourable comments on the decoration of the restaurant.Nektarios, the waiter, was very kind. Unfortunately we were dissatisfied by several reasons the same time. They did not clean our table as a couple had just left before us,they just collected a handkerchief and some other things.I let them know that they didn't clean the table,they did not care and brought us the plates. The waiter served us bottled water(by charging us in case he left it as well).I explained him that we had already ordered some fizzy drink and we do not need it (in fact it is illegal to charge us for something we did not order).He told us that this is the policy of the restaurant,will let the head waiter know about it. We had been waiting for 45 min for 2 dishes of spaghetti. When it was about time we paid the bill,I asked for it and let them know I have to pay by debit card. In a short time,the waiter came with the pos and orally informed me about the amount I had to pay(illegal one more time). I asked for the receipt and they brought me the paper I took a photo of it. Actually it was not a legal receipt,just a note for the cashier. I left without any other comments although I did not have to do it this way as I had a young child with me.
