Niko's Place — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

I cannot say how great this place is….

At first it’s unassuming and maybe not the friendliest, but the young server made us feel really welcome and sat us down before the restaurant opened and let us use the much needed bathroom.

Had a big group so ordered the meat platter, couple of Greek salads, and 2 extra skewers.

At first I thought he was trying to rip us off by making us order 2 bottled waters but he was patient and kind enough to explain that nobody drinks the tap water on Santorini. Point taken.

I gotta say the food is excellent. It deserves all the stars. I just ate in Athens and Mykonos and this can’t be beat. I don’t know what they put in the meat but it was so so good…

Gotta give props to the young server who says he works everyday without a break. His English is excellent and super friendly. Even the bigger intimidating guy was friendly! Thank you to the owner Niko who threw in a free drink to our younger patrons.

Lastly the value…… the value of the meat platter was well worth it. Definitely the cheapest out of the 3 different places we’ve tried. Who would have thought a random place in Oias would be so delicious. Will definitely come back if...

Sadly I ordered again, the same exact order, and it was terrible. The pork souvlaki was 2/5 with TERRIBLE taste, the gyro wrapped was so oily that the only think you were feeling was the oil, with cold potatoes and gyro ... I am close to give 2 stars over all, I am just claiming that they had a bad day, or just my order was unlucky, that's why I don't delete the old review... personally I won't order again from them...

Old review: (I ordered; 2 gyro wrapped, 2 pork souvlaki and 2 kebab. Everything was very nice, tasteful with normal prices but at the same time I cant say that it was something that I have never eat before, that's why I give 4 stars on the food. Moreover, I give 3 for the service because it was not that much professional and it was kinda rude at one moment (with a lot of background noise on the phone). And last but not least I give 3 for the atmosphere because I ordered and I didn't dine in. Overall, a very nice experience for what the shop is about and I would definitely suggest it if you want to eat...

We finished almost 3 hours of hiking from Santorini to Oia, and boy, were we hungry! Tried this place based on Google reviews and we were not disappointed.

Ordered an appetizer plate for two, a chicken and pork mixed plate, a Sprite, and a half liter of white wine. Total came in under 35 euro.

Grilled pita and an assortment of dips (eggplant, hummus, etc) were delish.

The chicken and pork were flavorful enough, but not as moist as I would prefer. Although, we did have enough “dipping” condiments to accompany the meat, so it all worked out.

Overall, quite satisfied with the meal and would definitely return. Portions were significant, prices were good, and food was pleasantly filling....
