The experience started off completely horrid and didn’t improve! Due to our 3:00 AM flight arrival time, arrangements had been made with DoDisturb.gr, (who by our understanding was the management group responsible for Museo Grand) through phone calls and email correspondence to receive us at out of normal business hours. Our shuttle was on time at the airport and waiting. Upon arrival to the hotel however the driver was unable to contact any representatives of Museo to check us in and get us into our room. The driver then told us he got a hold of someone and left us standing in the walkway of Oia at 3:30 AM to fend for ourselves. We attempted to contact Museo Grand through any means, and even contacted 24 hr Expedia who our original booking was through. It wasn’t until about 5:45 AM when a Museo Grand employee appeared to be returning from a night out. We were shown to a room at about 6:30 AM. We awoke the next day and the women Nia behind the desk was very apologetic, very nice and immediately informed us we would receive a refund for the first night and Museo would find a way to make the situation up to us. My husband suggested setting us up with a romantic dinner as this was our honeymoon. They were going to look into it. Before our last night we had asked if any arraignments had been made? The arrangements were for a pre-set menu meal of fried Seabass at the restaurant across the walkway from the hotel. When asked if we could change the menu to something of our choosing the male behind the desk was appalled we would even ask and began to argue with my husband that we could potentially rack up a large bill. He told us we were in the wrong about the situation, should watch what we say and the exchange got quite heated. We never went to the meal and instead found another restaurant (Flora, which we highly recommend as it may have been our best meal of the trip even without the sunset view) to enjoy our last dinner in Oia. After leaving the hotel we reached out to Museo Grand Hotel and Do Disturb about the refund. We were first told the refund was made in cash immediately, it wasn’t. Then told we would receive it in about 7 business days. We arrived in Oia the 6th of September and left the 10th. After returning to Canada on the 17th we contacted them again about the refund but did not receive any communication back. We attempted to contact them a few more times over the week. Finally after 14 business days since the original incident we went through Expedia who was awesome and gave us a full refund for the night. Outside of the experience the hotel was actually quite nice, our room was clean, breakfast every morning was good and the hotel is located in the heart of the walking strip of Oia. We did not have a balcony or outside sitting area which we thought we would. During our 5 night stay every time we went to sit around the pool a man would ask us to move telling us those chairs were reserved and even hinted us to leave the area because he didn’t believe we were guests, needless to say we never used the pool. Wouldn’t stay again simply due to the poor service and would take my money elsewhere as all the hotels in the area...
Read moreI am in awe of the beautiful island of Santorini, especially the visually STUNNING Oia. My husband and I stayed at Museo Grand Hotel as part of our wedding anniversary trip.
Dionysos was the most caring, kind and accommodating hotel manager and made our stay absolutely splendid. He gave us so many tips on places to check out and was very real with us with suggestions, which we appreciated so much. He went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of and the room we stayed in was just beautiful. Because my husband and I traveled at the beginning of the season, there was a lot of construction/maintenance work being done all around the Oia and at our hotel at the time but all of the workers that were on site were super respectful, and we never felt like they got in the way at all or that it was too noisy.
The location was FANTASTIC! Literally right in the heart of all the action, close to many cafes, shops (check out the perfume shop right next door!) and restaurants and a few minutes walk to the old castle where you can get breathtaking views of the sunset.
All in all, this trip was one to remember and our stay at Museo made it all...
Read moreI highly recommend Museo Grand Hotel. It's newly renovated, with nice size room and white-washed wood floor and decor. Very trendy, clean and great location. The staff especially Alkis is super accommodating. He speaks French, English and Greek, very customer orientated. He recommended two excellent restaurants, bus trip to Fira, and arranged our airport pick-up and drop-off service etc. In a conversation, I mentioned that our bathroom is bit small, he listened and switched us to a better room with a balcony and a much nicer bathroom. The entire experience was pleasant and wonderful. I'll stay here again in the future. Oh, having breakfast by the poolside is delightful. Thank you Museo Hotel staff and thank Alkis for making our experience...
