94' Konyha & Bar – Fine Dining, Chopsticks & First World Struggles
If you’ve ever wanted to experience the pinnacle of culinary globalization—where Vietnamese cuisine meets fine dining in the heart of Budapest and first-world problems thrive—94' Konyha & Bar is your place.
Here, spring rolls don’t drip with oil but are artistically wrapped, the pho broth simmers for hours, and there’s not even a fleeting thought of eating any of it on a plastic stool amidst street noise. But don’t worry, you can still wash it all down with a Saigon beer—which, funnily enough, still bears the old name of Ho Chi Minh City.
What Are We Eating?
LOTUS SALAD
Lotus root, shrimp, carrot
Mint, peanut, shallot
Lotus sauce
Comment: That salad where one of the ingredients is a water plant’s root. Because why not? Everyone at the table will pretend to be surprised that this is edible, and someone will definitely bring up how the lotus is a symbol of spiritual purity.
MAZE UDON
Grilled shrimp, udon noodles
Baby corn
Yaki sauce
Comment: Japanese udon noodles at a Vietnamese restaurant? Of course! Because globalization is a thing, and a good yaki sauce makes everything go with everything. The udon slides down smoothly—if you can actually grab it with chopsticks. If not, gravity will assist.
SINGAPORE FRIED NOODLE – TOFU
Ramen noodles, pak choi
Onion, scallion
Yako sauce
Comment: A dish named after Singapore, made with Japanese ramen noodles, eaten in a Vietnamese restaurant… in Budapest. If you ever felt like the world is one giant melting pot, here’s your edible proof.
94’ TARTE
Mango, yuzu, matcha
Comment: A French-inspired tart, featuring Japanese matcha and yuzu, plus tropical mango for good measure. At this point, fine dining and exotic ingredients have merged into what is essentially a postmodern art installation.
YUZU MATCHA TIRAMISU
Comment: If you thought tiramisu was Italy’s sacred treasure, think again. Because why not upgrade it with some Japanese matcha and yuzu? Every bite makes you wonder whether this is the future of pastry-making or just another overpriced trend.
First-World Problems: Because Life Is Hard
You try to pick up udon noodles with chopsticks, but they keep slipping out, and you start questioning whether this is your lack of skill or part of the universe’s grand design.
You want to order a Saigon beer but hesitate, suddenly realizing your brain has gone into politically correct mode: “Wait, isn’t it called Ho Chi Minh City now?”
You take out your phone to Instagram your matcha tiramisu, only to realize ten other people are doing the exact same thing, and the person at the next table has a DSLR.
94' Konyha & Bar is the perfect place to fine dine and experience the flavors of global cuisine on a single plate while contemplating the identity crisis of modern gastronomy. And if the fancy ramen doesn’t impress, don’t worry—there’s always a safety net: a cup of Vietnamese coffee and a Saigon beer… while it’s still...
Read moreGreat place, nice vibe, amazing food, and good cocktails. If you are into Vietnamese food and Asian fusion, check it out.
We had an excellent dinner. For appetiser we had summer rolls and edamame beans and for main we had a Pho soup with beef and Fried rice. All were excellent. It was clear that the food was made from fresh and good raw material. We also had a draft beer and a few coctails and everything was beutifully presented and delishious.
We were there for an early dinner and were completely alone. No other guests came in the entire 1,5 hours we were there. Given how good the food was, and the cool vibe of the place, we were slightly surprised. After asking the waitors we learned that the place recently opened. As business owners ourselves, who know how long it can take to get recognized as a business, we decided to write this review. They...
Read moreI can only say good things about this place! We ordered two types of mocktails and they were ridiculously good (and big!). We also got the vegetable tempura and the tofu Saigon dry pho, and both were delicious (and vegan-friendly). Each thing we ordered was prepared perfectly and the flavours were excellent. You can tell that they make an effort to make every dish taste as good as possible. On top of that, the service was excellent and very friendly, and the atmosphere was...
