My girlfriend and I literally just got off the shuttle bus from the airport, desperately in need of something to eat and drink after 7 hours travelling since 3am.
Antre was recommended for breakfast by the fella on the corner selling the red bus tours. Needless to say after this advice we won’t be buying a bus tour from him.
We arrived at Antre at 10:50. Initially it didn’t appear to be open and was completely empty. We went and asked the hostess if it was open and she seemed less than enthusiastic to see us. We should probably have left at that point but given the circumstances and having no local knowledge, we needed to feed.
Of course you never expect a breakfast buffet to be first class, but this was poor accross every aspect.
First off, the coffee machine had ran out of milk. We had to ask for it to be topped up which was met with a grunt, and it then produced cold Latte Machiatto as presumably, the external jug needs time to warm the milk. The brown bread ran out and wasn’t replenished, which is a bit of an issue as I am diabetic and left me limited for options. The boiled eggs are kept in hot water and so produce dry, black yolks. The cheese on the continental breakfast had been there so long it had started to dehydrate and curl around the edges. No means of warming the croissants or pastries. The sausage and bacon is poor quality and the hot (let’s say luke warm) food offering, very limited.
The place looks nice from the outside but it’s experience certainly do not meet what you would expect from its appearance.
Major disappointment and I seriously hope this is not indicative of food in Budapest as a whole, because it is going to be a long four days if it is!
Also not particularly cheap at 18 Euro’s, which is about £15 in UK pound. A breakfast buffet costs a £10 at Whitbread chains and is LEVELS about this. In fact, if I had been at home I would’ve...
Read moreThis place made me feel like I was part of an episode from 'Chef's table'. The staff was incredibly nice and professional. And the food was one of the best experiences I've had so far in Budapest.
The place looks very cozy and clean. The bar also looked very cool, stylish and well organized.
This place has made me aware that i may be giving high ratings too quickly. But this place REALLY deserves it's 5 stars. They served delicious Hungarian Cuisine and it may come across as a bit expensive for some, but it's worth every forint!
My first course was a Buffalo Goulash. Which was very tasteful. Roasted vegetables and delicious meat that melts on the tongue. You can choose if you want it served with or without bread.
For the main course I opted for Fallow deer, with roasted rabbit liver and beetroot. A great fall/winter dish. It also contained delicious mushrooms and potatoes.
For dessert I took the Mango Mousse with Cashew Nuts Chocolate Sponge Cake and Coconut Ice Cream. It may seem/sound like a very sweet dessert but it is not overly sweet which I liked very much. Garnished with some dried flower petals which gave it an even better look.
Thank you so much for this wonderfull experience! It has...

The breakfast menu was varied and full of delicious options – from classic eggs and fresh pastries to more creative dishes that were beautifully presented. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and made with high-quality ingredients. The coffee was excellent too, rich and smooth, and definitely one of the best we had in the city.
