A genuinely lovely cafe/ brunch/ bar location, that is just a minute away from St Stephens Basilica Church as a reference point..
We were visiting said church and taking pictures as you do when visiting the city
Feeling peckish, we looked for a small local family type cafe to just have some brunch and a couple of drinks..
We prefer to frequent the family run businesses, so that we feel we're part of the local community and also helping to sustain the local economy.. But that just our thoughts when visiting any country..
Looked up a street, seen a few people sat outside a building at tables, and we walked the very short distance to its location and found this unassuming little place..
And we are so pleased that we did go here... Wonderful ambience, on two levels, the upper level being like a mezzanine floor..
It genuinely is a little gem of a place.. Staff were so caring, polite and engaging, the cusine that we had was presented with care and tasted delicious..
The menu isn't extensive, but for me that's a better way of doing business.. People who will dine here are more like to be having a light lunch with drinks as catch up time with loved ones, family and friends..
We will definitely return if visiting again before we return home...
From reading the limited amount of reviews about this cafe, suggests that it may be a recently opened business..
And one really great plus, was that the service charge that was added to the bill, which is mandatory in Hungary before anyone asks, in this business all such service charges are shared between their staff.. For us that's a...
Read moreI booked a table online for a family gathering. We also had my 5-month-old nephew with us. The waitress was kind, got our drink and food orders alright, she was also confident with knowing the allergens. We had to wait quite some time for the food to arrive because the place was almost full, and i guess there is only one cook in the kitchen. Food was pretty good, the presentation is what you expect from a brunch place, and also the flavors were spot on.
Everything was very pleasant except for one thing. There was a lady - i assume the manager - and here presence was really bothering. She sat down at the bar and had an online meeting on her laptop WITHOUT EARPHONES. For more than 20 minutes she was talking with someone on speaker, and she was speaking loudly in the middle of the room. I felt bad, because my family members were noticing this many times, and I was the one who chose the place. When she was done with the meeting she went in the kitchen. She spoke so loudly, we could hear what she was saying. She was louder from the kitchen, than my crying 5-month-old nephew from the toilette during diaper change… Because of this reason I can only give 4 stars.
So all in all, the food was great, the waitress was nice, the environment is pleasant. But make sure when you are going, the manager...
Read moreThis is a fantastic new family-run brunch spot that just opened right by Bazilika in Budapest’s city centre. The location is amazing and the design is really appealing, modern, relaxed and laid back but also slick in a way that makes me think it could also work well as a nighttime bar. The menu is simple and straightforward with a focus on a few things, done really well. I had the eggs Benedict with prosciutto, which was a 10/10. The hollandaise sauce was rich and moreish without being too heavy and the eggs themselves were poached to perfection - wonderfully runny yolks but with the whites thoroughly cooked through. Outstanding. The coffee was also great, it’s a very high quality with a darker roast which appealed to my Italian taste buds. A word on service - this is a family run business so you can really feel they put their heart into every customer and dish. The owner served us and came out to introduce himself and have a chat. This is the kind of thing that is sorely missing amidst the inflation of soulless but instagrammable chain restaurants, so it was a pleasure to support a local business especially when the food and service was so impeccable. Exceptional all round, we look forward to...
