A rough surprise for us after reading the other reviews.
Service felt cold and when asked if a certain menu item was a decent choice i was assured it was nice. This either showed an unwillingness to actually help or a severe lack of taste on their part. When asked if we could take a bench table for two we were told we couldn't since it was for bigger companies. So we sat at another table for two which is partly shoved under the bar top and provided with chairs that would hardly compete with the chairs one might find on the streets during garbage collection day.
The food was lackluster. I cannot write a book about how my slices of bacon were all cooked to a different level and my egg was slimy, but yet it managed to leave a feeling of dissapointment. One that could not be salvaged by a drizzle of pesto sauce and 2 slices of bread that were fresh and nice (while the other 2 were simply stale).
A bite of the pancakes made me realise i was the lucky one. The overly sweet weirdly flavoured batter left a longing for the pancakes from a "simply add water mix", or at the very least a better one than they used.
My iced coffee was risky, every country does it differently, but my waiter assured me it was good. His perception must have been skewed since it tasted like a glass of water touched by a few coffee beans. I understand one mediocre shot of espresso in a glass of ice and water would result in this, but to describe it as good? Even mcdonalds seems like a strong competitor, in hindsight maybe for the pancakes as well.
Then again we ate everything, partly due to being hungry, so depending on your opinion 1 star is too rough. It certainly was not inedible. But after a 12 percent service charge, while normal in Budapest, left me with enough of grumpyness to not bother. We left as we entered, an empty restaurant with unoccupied, unreserved bench seats.
Just go...
Read moreI will start my review with this: always check your bill before paying as the employees may overcharge you. That is what happened to us. We went to try out their breakfast two days ago (1st of July 2023). The tables were relatively clean, but the terrace what very uninviting due to the fact that an employee from Fluffy was throwing dirty water on the street, right where customers would walk to their restaurant. We ordered three Avo toasts and two orange juices, as well as some water, a coffee and the Fluffy pancakes. The Avo toast was tasteless, plain and the egg benedict on it was cold and not cooked enough. I would not recommend it to anyone. We recieved glasses 1/3 full with orange juice that were supposed to cost 450 HUF each, but we were charged triple. When we mentioned this to the employees, they proceeded to get very angry and “explain” harshly how they filled out glasses to the top, therefore they tripled the normal dose. Nobody made us aware of this when we recieved the glasses, and they were not full, just 1/3 full. Another thing that upset us is how the employees treated us after we told them about the billing mistake. They raised their voices and told me many disrespectful things such as “you don’t know basic math?” or “mind your business and leave”. When I tried to warn another table of this, one of the employees rudely interrupted me and told me that I am not allowed to talk to other customers, which makes them even more suspicious. Why can’t I tell them about the billing tricks that they use with foreigners? The pancakes are overpriced. You get 4 cold mini pancakes and some old fruit pieces. We paid almost 20,000 HUF for a cold and tasteless breakfast. Overall, the experience was extremely dissapointing and upsetting. I do not recommend this place to anyone, especially foreigners, as they will overcharge you and insult...
Read moreI have no idea how this place has so many high reviews cause eating at Fluffy was literally the worst experience during our stay in Budapest.
We arrived 10 minutes after opening and except for the staff there was no one. We asked the waitress if we could sit on the couch cause these seats looked comfortable and nicer to us. She said no, these seats are for the bigger companies (even though some of these seats had only 2) and we should sit instead at the tiny wooden table that is standing literally under the bar.
We ordered eggs and bacon, pancakes, cappuccino and iced coffee. Cappuccino from the coffee vending machine tastes better than its Fluffy version. Don't order iced coffee there either, a glass of water has more flavor. Bacon was oversalted, eggs were not properly cooked and pancakes tasted even worse than old pancakes from the McDonald's. Only one plus, they do look good on the photos.
And on top of that, they ask for 12% service charge, which is so ridiculous.
Don't go there, there are better places...
