Leftovers and attitude!it was a very disappointing experience !I'm Hungarian living abroad for over 12years so I was really craving some good ol' Hungarian meal..i can tell that nothing was fresh!100%Leftovers most probably from the previous day ...pricing would've been acceptable if I would've enjoy my meal and they would've provide me great service with it!the issue was with (most probably the owner) not the waiter nor the waitress!I ordered ' cold fruit soup' which in Hungary usually means cherry soup or cherry apple pear mixed together..ive got a questionable strawberry cream soup . When I told him oh that wasn't what I was expecting. He gave me a lecture (then he said they just put fruit soup on the menu and got options...but when I checked in the menu it said waiter will what's today's soup when ordered...thst never happened...)then he told me he been open for over 20 years...not sure how with this attitude!!horrible experience and wouldn't recommend this place at all!It wouldn't been such a major problem if they handle it with a proper manner!!!but main course wasn't fresh and was warm..out if 3 of us none of us were happy with the food nor the service...
Read moreVery good soups, for a very good price! Now,I myself am not Hungarian so I cant tell you much about authenticity, however I can tell you that they deliver great taste, for a good price(For the huge 0.8l portion).I ordered the "Traditional Fishermand soup" thats the english translation, roughly from my memory, made with cat fish.Absolutely loved it,my partner ordered goulash, great as well tho my personal recomendation would be the fish shoup Exceptional service, even offered chili flakes to add to your liking. Not a particulary spicy vatiety, but still a nice gesture non the less.Staff where helpfull, and you can order in English just fine.Personal recomendation, but order their shoups instead of their other products, great prices in the relevant market, while the rest of ther dishes and especially their appetisers are rather overpriced and a tad bit expensive, not in unnaturally highnumbers especially for those with a flexible budget, but for a lower end tourist like my self.Great location as well, one you can visit after your trip to Margatet Island, nearby.Assecible via two tram...
Read moreEverything is now overpriced in Budapest. Will there be any relief? Who knows. This place certainly doesnât. The food was meh. And their interpretations of Hungarian food do not measure up to my experiences. I cannot recommend this place.
â- The owner has responded to this review and reminded me of the terrible inflation that the Hungarian people are suffering. I agree that this accounts for the high prices, not just at this place but everywhere in Budapest, and certainly Hungary in general. So, âoverpricedâ was a poor choice of words on my part. This is just the price that has to be charged in order to stay in business.
I will respond to the ownerâs comment however that I must not like or understand Hungarian food. I know and enjoy the Hungarian cuisine and I ate there with three native Hungarians. Iâm sorry, but I have to reiterate that your offerings are not that great. The lecsĂł, for example, was very dry and reminded me of overcooked flavorless scrambled eggs that were reheated in a cardboard box. I actually felt ill after eating half the plate. Perhaps it was...
