Madal Cafe — Restaurant in Budapest

The staff is kind and the place is actually nice so it would be four stars at least. I won't rate it higher cause of the business practices tho. To the owners: Don't offload paying your staff better to customers by putting in a tipping machine, raise prices instead dickhead(s), it's a speciality coffee shop, customers have the money to pay a bit more. Don't put your staffs pay as an optional component just to seemingly keep your prices cheaper on the board, it's a scummy business practice, you are in Hungary not the US, many other speciality coffee places don't do this, instead they have higher prices. I'd rather go to those places, since they don't outsource paying their staff better to...

Visited Madal several times during our stay in Budapest, since we lived on this street. At first (before visiting), we were a little sceptical about the place, since there are multiple Madal cafes in the city. However, it turned out to be the best speciality cafe we visited and the best coffee we had – from batch and hand brew to espresso. Also, the sweets were incredible (literally everything we managed to try – the bonbons, goji fudge, babka, croissant... 🤤)

If you are looking for a great coffee with reasonable prices and friendly welcoming atmosphere, this is it. Also, I would not be afraid to visit their other cafes around the town because it seems they truly care about the...

I've been there in winter w/ my friends and this place saved us. We travelled from Romania in a disgusting Romanian train and this was the first place we've entered in Budapest. Let me just say that I'm going to travel from Poland to Budapest this summer just for this coffee. And I need to say thank you to the lady that was working that day ( 6th of February). We looked like hobos, we were stinky, disgusting and this lady was the most lovely and nicest person I've met the entire trip. I think "kindness" is her second name. She gave us coffee and warm croissant with the biggest smile on her face. So little ment so much for us at this time....
