The place was full so we decided to have a take away. The service guy who I was negotiating the order was on the edge of politeness but I can accept that (busy night). On the other hand the girl behind the bar was quite nice and smily.

Food 4/5 We had a vegan mushroom quesadilla without sour cream (lactose intolerant here, I can handle the cheddar) and it was very tasty, especially the mushrooms! But the whole food was tasting with a bit of fire. A bit salty to my taste but you could compensate that with a rice which was rather without taste and definitely not freshly cooked (sadly, only reason I am not giving 5 stars). Going to the vegan burrito - a bit unusual with rice as a side dish, not inside, but life is a change! Same problem with the rice as before, but burrito itself was very good, I liked the taste of pepper which was kind of surpassing all other tastes. Tomato salsa and guacamole were both ok, not overwhelmingly good, but ok.

Service 4/5 3 for the guy 5 for the girl. That is pretty much it. Since we were dining out I am not able to judge their caring after.

Atmosphere 5/5 Again not much to judge but from these few moments of staying I had pretty Mexican vibes, so thats enough for me 🙂

Conclusion A pity of that rice but other than that a solid option for Mexican food. I even liked the value - in the center of the city for just 24...

Just arrived and we were wanting Mexican food and this place sounded like the place to go. We weren't disappointed. Service was excellent, even though they were closing in less than an hour. Adam waited on us and made great suggestions. We started with freshly in house made salsa and corn tortilla chips with sour cream and the salsa. We had the bees tacos and the shrimp fajitas. The tacos were very tasty with warm spices. The shrimp was so very good. Nice mixture of onions and shrimp nicely seasoned, better than in the states. 1st time for fajita with fried egg. Added a smooth creaminess. Make your own at the table. Delivered with spicy-not hot black beans and more salsa, pickled onions, jalapenos and 2 fresh tortillas. Added sour cream and some homemade taco sauce and enjoyed 2 large hand made fajitas. Highly recommend this place. They are proud of the food they serve. That shows immediately. I would definitely recommend trying this small hole in the wall taco bar .. Adam even wrote down some of his favorite restaurants we should try while here so we can try out non tourist places for good food....

This place has nothing to do with tasty Mexican food. It is more like an Imbiss on the street with cheap ingredients hard avocados used / nachos from supermarket. Tourist trap. Guacamole horrible taste. Steak Burrito, Tomato soup everything worse than Mc Donald's. This is light years away from a normal restaurant in Mexico and I am not talking about the top Restaurants there. We just came back from Mexico! As well it takes forever for main course in not even half full restaurant. 4 peoples standing behind the bar and looking at each other.I have no time for writing this review. I do it only to warn other people. My wife's stomach even hurts now.I would be ashamed to run a restaurant like that. Instead of apologizing the Restaurant answer with a lie. Lucky me I eat not all .If I would serve this to my clients I would be long out of business. I never come back again and non of my family or friends. paid as well almost...

We visited Hugo's twice on our short trip to Budapest. It was conveniently located near our hotel and we first had a late night cocktail and creme brulee treat amongst the beautiful decor and atmospheric music. The skull glass was a fun feature! Our second visit was for lunch, a purposeful return as we knew we would enjoy it again. Our server was Adam was helpful, friendly and checked in on us without interrupting us. We enjoyed Hugo's own chips (tortilla chips), cream and salsa, with a unique beetroot chip which we could have eaten over and over! For mains we had chicken burrito and chilli quesadilla, both beautifully cooked, flavoured and presented. We had a beer and a super cucumber lemonade, with fresh fruit. Refreshing and light. We enjoyed a creme brulee (again, they are so good!) and coffees before heading back to the UK. Adam was happy to make us feel welcomed and not rushed, as we relaxed. Thank you Adam!

We came here for the restaurant week and it proved to be a good choice. For the apps, the Mexican chicken-tomato soup was tasty and mildly hot, while the pepper-chickpeas salad with cheese was good, however I did not expect this much ruccola in it. The tacos were perfectly made, very delicious, flavours together made a perfect harmony. The do not make anything too spicy, butthey provide a huge selection of hot sauces complimentary, so you can add if you fancy. The mango-caramel-hazelnut cake was a nice surprise as well, not too sweet, nice texture, tasted really good. Also the lemonades were great too, made from real ingredients, not just syrups. The only con was maybe the service time, we have waited more than 20 min for the mains in a nearly empty restaurant. Nevertheless I will definitely return for an a la carte meal, it is much better than Tereza or Iguana.
