La Siesta Budapest — Restaurant in Budapest

Terrible service experience by a rude bartender. My friend and I ordered 5 drinks for our group. We paid and we were waiting for our drinks. 4 drinks were ready, and the bartender was halfway through making the 5th drink (it was a margarita, nothing difficult) when another bartender announced that the "fire show" was starting. Our bartender (a short female, she doesn'thave a name tag) literally dropped everything from her hand and stood back from the bar. It took another 2 minutes until the show even started, plenty of time to shake and pour the drink in the glass, which had been prepared already... This "huge" show meant they poured some alcohol in the top of the bar, and they lit it. That's it. After extinguishing it, 1 of the bartenders jumped on the bar and poured shots into the customers' mouth. We waited another 10-15 minutes until they were willing to continue making drinks. When I reminded the bartender that we are still waiting for our 5th drink, she had a go at me, started shouting at me that what is my problem, why am I so impatient and I should complain to her colleague as he announced the show.

Just to clarify, we were waiting for a margarita, which is one of the easiest cocktails, takes only a minute to prepare, and she was halfway through making it. She could have easily finished it before the show. She also had the option to say something to us, like sorry girls, I will need you to wait a bit as we are doing the show (she did absolutely nothing during this "show", just stepped back from the bar and waited). She could have said sorry afterwards, too, but nothing. She thinks it is OK for us to be charged for the drinks straight away, but then wait with 2-2 drinks in our hands another 15 minutes for the 5th drink without any explanation or apologies. Instead, she gives you an attitude, shouting at you and being rude. I have been working in hospitality 15+ years, and I have been on the other side of the bar several times, I always treat staff with respect as I know how it feels to be there. Stumbled into Amar i la Siesta Bar almost by accident – and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we’d discovered one of the city’s best-kept secrets. The atmosphere is a perfect mix of laid-back Mediterranean vibes and Budapest’s creative edge: warm lighting, cozy corners, and just the right amount of quirky decor to make you smile.

The drinks? Incredible. The cocktails were not just beautifully presented but genuinely delicious – creative twists that actually work instead of just looking pretty. My personal highlight was the signature drink (try it, you’ll see why), and they mix a seriously good classic too.

But what really makes this place special is the staff. Friendly without being pushy, genuinely funny, and you can tell they love what they do. It’s the kind of bar where you come for “one drink” and end up staying all night, chatting with locals and travelers alike.

This is one of my favourite place and I been here many times. It's Halloween today and they are like awesome I I think whole Budapest is here to enjoy the party. All the managers are polite Ahmed,shadi and Nabil to everyone.
