KOI Restaurant — Restaurant in Budapest

Went here recently with a small group of friends. Bevare, just because they say it is not spicy, does not mean it won't have a tonn of chili! First the good: the ambiance is nice, the servers are polite. We all had the Vietnamese iced tea, it was very tasty if you like sweet tea. One had the Koi coctail and liked it. The starters were all fine, and 1 main dish, the fried rice with duck was also ok. Then the bad: I ordered the Vietnamese shrimp stew, and asked if it was spicy, was reassured ut was not. 1, they forgot that I ordered (we found out when after we all others were halfway through their meal and we inquired), 2 it has pork in it which was not marked on the menue. Ok, I switched my order to Octopus, made in wok with vegetables, and again inquired if it was spicy and was told it was not. When I finaly got my meal , it was nearly inedible for me: it was spicy hot with visible chili peppers, and the octopus was like rubber. I could barely eat half of it, and only so much because I was just that hungry by that point. One of my friends ordered phad thai, and she also asked for non spicy and that was hot as well.

To be fair, when at the and I said, that I am sorry, but my food was rather bad, they instantly offered to strike it...

First quick glance, 40 something reviews and 4.7, maybe family and friends? We decided to give it a try and wow, very very nice food with super friendly service.

Our favorite was definitely the Vietnamese beef salad but pretty much every dish was well made with fresh ingredients. Even the pho. As for the sushi and rolls, well, not bad, maybe a 7/10 for Budapest which is pretty good and nice they have the variety but maybe better to focus on the Vietnamese dishes.

We highly recommend this restaurant. Nothing to fault. All the tastes were very well balanced. Nothing was too salty or too much fish sauce or too much mint. Everything was pretty much spot on.

And if you like to drink, well, they have an excellent selection of Hungarian wines and lots of other spirits to get you toasted.

And the service was excellent and they didn’t even tack on a service fee on the bill. The only part where they can help the customer is to add more photo of the dishes.

Definitely now a place...

I saw a review of the restaurant on tiktok and it was highly appreciated so I was very excited. I really want to go to the restaurant to try it. We had dinner here. It took a while for the food to arrive, maybe due to the lack of staff, but the food is quite good, I highly recommend “Cơm lươn bát đá”. The rice is very delicious. The manager is friendly and kind. Staffs is polite but I think the restaurant should improve professional training for staffs. I know that the restaurant just opened so there has many shortcomings but the service is very important. The staff didn’t know about the food on the menu, my sister ordered steak but wasn’t asked about the level of doneness of the meat, the pate was still a bit cold. I feel a bit disappointed. I still want to try other dishes of the restaurant but it will probably...
