A Budapest expat here! I have been to low and high scale restaurants in Budapest for over 2 years. The quality of service this place offers is like a fine-dining restaurant quality. This place boosts up the service quality of Hungarian standards! The crew is very polite, attentive and informative. I felt incredibly welcome here and that is a rather rare experience you can have in BP restaurants. The crew honestly accepted to change ingredients of a meal due to a dietary need, they were quite open and suggestive. Let me talk about the food. Very rich variety of options for meat lovers as well as for vegeterians/vegans. The number of main dishes they offer was so high that I was skeptical about the quality that can maintain. Most of the time, the richer the menu is the lower the quality. Yet, it is not the case here! I loved the food; clean and high quality spices. They also offer Indian wine; sula! The portions are very filling so that I couldn't have space for desert. MahaRana was an exceptional experience for me in my history of Budapest. I hope they will keep this successful service and...
Read moreWe had booked a table for 8.00 pm in their website and we got confirmation message too. But when we went asked them, they said the booking was not confirmed as the website had some problems. When we told them that we got confirmation message too and what to do now, they said that it is not their problem. After argument for few minutes they told that they can book a table at 9.30 pm. As we didn't have any options to(as it was new year eve day) we said okay and went back around 9.30. We waited there about 35-40 mins, we didn't get the table. So we asked him we have other new year plans too and whether we can get a table or not . The guy told that he can't do anything for that(with no respect) finally he confirmed that they don't have a table for us. So that night we couldn't have food as all the shops were closed by that time.
Also while waiting in restaurant, we saw a family coming inside, the guy just told them that no tables available(again with...
Read moreWe encountered this place while were on our search for some indian food after a whole day eating some good Hungarian food. The ambience is nice, looks like an underground cave and the owner is quite nice and welcoming.
I ordered a mutton curry dish which came with vegetables in the curry. On looking at the dish, i started having second thoughts, but when i starting eating the dish, i must say that it was good. Generally Mutton curries don't have vegetables in them, but this was different and tasty. This difference maybe due to the Ayurveda theme of the restaurant, but as i am not an expert in Ayurveda, i wont comment.
The breads/naans were good and the overall service was good.
Overall a good experience, will visit only if i am craving for some decent indian food in my next visit...
