If you love salt, you are going to love it here! Everything has an excess of salt for some unknown reason, food was average not worth of the many stars on google. The service is where I have the most problem with the waiter who is constantly working on his showmanship throwing here and there phrases to every table in the vicinity, he forgets absolutely everything you asked him for so it’s patience game when you come to dine here …. Then at the end the bill clearly says that a 13% service fee has been added to it then the waiter leans forward saying “that’s for the restaurant not for us, so anything additional is appreciated”immediately knowing this is a dishonest request since you have done your homework by watching all your travel videos and read all the travel guides to BUDAPEST and they all tell you that “service fee” is the TIP, yet you add more since you feel more embarrassed by the dishonest request than anything else, this is done because they think they will never see you again and it just them taking from you, because you are an stupid tourist, If the service was stellar then sure but it’s not. So customer beware and come prepare...
Read moreWe had just gotten to Hungary after a week in Italy, having had wonderful meals in Venice and Florence. After a day or two of authentic Hungarian fare, we met my sister and her family in Budapest, they having arrived directly from the US.
On their first night her kids wanted Italian food!
We thought why would anyone want Italian food in Budapest. We thought that the best Italian food in Hungary would be of lesser quality than the most mediocre in the US.
We reluctantly found this restaurant, that we thought would at least give an opportunity to walk around the Danube and give the kids something to eat that would at least be vaguely familiar, expecting a stereotypical Italian menu.
What we really found was an incredibly authentic Tuscan restaurant that stunned on every level.
We spoke with the chef, who actually had tears when we told him how wonderful our experience was in his restaurant.
The food, the service, the wine. All spectacular.
The next time we were back in Tuscany, a year or so later, we were still commenting about our evening at...
Read moreIs something like being home: the warm atmosphere of good italian trattorie. The food is good but not excellent and the price too expensive compared to the city standards. (Other Italian restaurants in Budapest have higher standards) However better than average Hungarian restaurants. Among the aperitive drinks they don't include Negroni Sbagliato: an affront for a Milanese. Tuscan bread is not served that makes the Tuscany feeling a bit nah... Instead they offer focaccia from pizza dough that is good but served with very Hungarian sauces: oil full of garlic and oil with Pista. I had a Passerina wine that was not worth the money, Either the quality of the product but most likely the way it was preserved was not optimal. Service is kind but too slow and a bit too Hungarian. Finally when you pay they include about 15% service (acceptable) but then they say that the tip is not included... Really??? Summarizing this the feeling is less Italian in quality and service that I would have expected especially considering the...
