a nice spot if you are trying to get away from all the fine dining located in reykjavik
basically a no fuss grill/bbq spot with bar foods, the burgers looked really good, and the fish and chips as well
we opted for the lamb skewer and the bbq ribs, while neither are cheap, they are not expensive by iceland standards either - we paid about $80 for a few soft drinks and the two entrees
the food took awhile to come (20 - 25 mins maybe?) but i will give them the benefit of the doubt, as it was super busy since not many restaurants are open on new years day
the bbq ribs platter came with corn, salad, coleslaw, 3 mini racks of ribs and fries, which i swapped for onion rings
the bbq sauce was good, and i felt that the portion size was huge and was a major value
lamb skewer was really well done and worth every penny. it came with salad and potatoes but could be exchanged for other sides if wanted
my fiancée kept raving about the flavor and cook of the lamb, so i would definitely recommend one try that if visiting grillhúsið
overall its a nice spot, and i thought both the hostess and the waiter we had were really fun...
Read moreWe stumbled into Grillhouse shortly after arriving as the hotel room wasn't ready. Something for everyone really. I've one teen who goes for meat (burger/pizza types) & one more adventurous diner, plus GF to navigate. Although the menu wasn't labelled (you can ask staff if unsure) super friendly staff, very helpful. Grillhouse was so nice we actually returned twice more on our trip. There's a lot of nice looking places to eat in Reykjavik but it's hard to find one that provides everything required. I opted for fish of the day on our last visit, Artic char pic below, beautifully cooked. They also have GF beer (lager) on tap, which was a pils style & delicious. All food well cooked & presented. Nothing but empty plates. Iceland is expensive, but Grillhouse was not overpriced for what you had. We had four decent sized mains, three soft drinks & two beers & that was about £120... but that's Iceland 🇮🇸. When we return, I will definitely be back to...
Read moreOh my good. This was a total disaster. We were a group of 10 people (family) from Sweden on our last evening on beautiful Ísland. We had to wait for over 1,5 hours for most of our order. We got the wrong food, had to send back cold food. They forgot our drinks. Most of the food were really bad, people in our group left the food after they lost three appetite. People in the table next to us left the restaurant with their crying daughter, without their food, angry at the staff. I think this where the worst food experience we had, ever in our lives!!!!! The restaurant does not work and should close until they solve there staff problems. They can make it work but need to close, get the staff together, talk it over, get a new plan and off course have some management onboard who knows how to get the work done properly. We will go back visiting beautiful Ísland but never...
