The room was quite good and the location was great. ||||Unfortunately, the experience was pretty much ruined at the the end when we discovered that on the same floor, there were at least two prostitutes sharing a room and accepting johns at all hours. We were shocked and weren't sure exactly how to react so we asked a local friend who visited us to advise us. He recommended solving this quietly so as to not make a scene or cause embarrassment to the friendly owner. So he sent him an email and got the weirdest reply ever. But we decided to give it a day.||||And nothing happened.||||They were still across the hall saying howdy to customers all day and night long, while the owner and his family claim to live in the next room. I don't know if he's oblivious, doesn't care or won't dare to cause a scene but the prostitutes were still there last we knew, just down the hall from us.||||This place advertises itself as a family and kid friendly place. Thank the Lord we decided to leave our kids at home instead of subjecting them to this. The stay in Iceland has been great, we met a lot of old friends and the country is beautiful and amazing and in all honesty this is a great location and good rooms. But the thing that always be top of mind when we think about this trip was what was going on across the hall.||||This place calls itself Central Premium Luxury Apartments - premium and luxury do not go hand in hand with what was in...
Read moreI booked this place on Expedia thinking that I would be staying in a nice apartment in Reykjavik. ||I got an email confirming this.||Then I got an email about another apartment (which was not in any of the pictures on Expedia). I was a little confused and sent an email to the company. No response.||I arrived in Reykjavik at 0300. I spent half an hour trying every single keypad at the Laugevegur location but none of them worked. ||I then checked my email again ( none of them stated that my accommodation had been moved) and walked to this place at 0330. I had a room in the attic which was well furnished, but with low ceilings that made it impossible to stand while I was showering, and long brown hair on the bedding that made it apparent that it had been slept in recently.||I called them the next day, and a very pleasant man assured me he would take care of the situation.||He didn't, until I wrote a review on Expedia, at which point there was an apology issued, but no refund accounting for the change in lodging from "central premium luxury apartments" to an attic. ||I was in Reykjavik for 72 hours, and this was my only negative experience in Iceland (which is otherwise amazing and anyone and everyone should visit). ||I should note that the apartment itself was fine, and IF I had paid for an attic, I would have been perfectly happy. ||I would NOT recommend...
Read moreThe biggest and most expensive place of our stay. Much better to stay here after a long week of traveling around Iceland. Located very close to all the main areas in the city.
The kitchen was fully loaded and had all the necessities. The only downside was probably the instructions to appliances. They weren't that difficult to figure out, but the dishwasher had me stumped for a bit.
The shower was excellent and the most spacious. The only downside was the amount of hooks available to hang clothes and towels. A heater was also available next to the shower if you planned on hanging clothes.
The beds here were much better than the ones found at guesthouses across Iceland. There was one main room and one smaller room. The smaller room wasn't spacious at all and the bed pretty much fits wall to wall on 3 corners and the room only had enough space to walk to the bed.
Parking is definitely not guaranteed.. apparently it's first come first serve. We we're lucky to get a spot when we arrived, but I wouldn't be sure what to do if the spots were all taken since you couldn't go to the underground lot.
Overall, it's a nice place to stay if you have a...
