Mainland China is located in the food court section of Infinity Mall Malad West. Apart from Malad they have other outlets in Andheri, Powai, Vashi and Thane.
The restaurant is spacious with an amazing fine dine feel. The wooden chairs and the high ceiling and posh lighting looks great. Also you get the view of live sushi counter and a great stacked bar which looks amazing. Overall loved the setup as everything is arranged in a systematic manner.
They specialise in Chinese cuisine and they have kept a special sushi menu as well. The options available are great and price wise its not too heavy on pockets as the quantity served is excellent.
We went here to try their newly introduced "Best of Mainland China" 10 course set lunch menu at 725. This is a special lunch available between Monday to Thursday and you can opt for drinks as well by paying extra. Honestly I loved the selection done be them as I am a hardcore Chinese fan I totally loved it. From soup to appetizers to desserts they have covered everything perfectly. The menu is not repetitive and every dish was indeed the best of Mainland China.
I went here on Thursday lunch and the place had good amount of people dining. Met Manager Bishnu who explained about the menu & staff Susanta was very attentive, polite and proactive. Both kitchen and table service was outstanding.
What We Had - SOUP~ Lung Fung (Veg\Non Veg) - Loved the chicken and egg white in the non veg variant and the veg tasted decent.
DIMSUM~ Basil Flavoured Dumpling (Veg\Non Veg) - Thin covering and the filling was generous. Basil flavours on spot and not too overpowering. Here again loved the chicken version.
APPETIZER~ Wok Tossed Cottage Cheese. Diced Chicken. Both tasted delicious. The soy sauce and garlic flavour was great and the cottage cheese was fresh and the chicken was juicy.
MAINS~ Exotic Vegetables in Chilli Basil Sauce. Tsing Hoi Chicken. Celery and Chinese Cabbage Fried Rice. Wok Tossed Vegetable Hakka Noodles. All the mains were brilliant. The veggies in basil sauce had nice crunch and it tasted really good. The spicy Tsing Hoi chicken again had good amount of chillies used and both rice and noodles went really well with the gravies.
DESSERTS~ Honey Noodles. Chocolate Rolls. Vanilla Ice Cream. Honey noodles and chocolate rolls were outstanding. The noodles had amazing taste of honey with sesame topped. The hot chocolate rolls had brownie filled within along with chocolate sauce. This shoud not be missed.
MOCKTAIL~ Lime Mojito - Nicely made and very refreshing. Not too sour or sweet and tasted balanced.
So the Best of Mainland China set meal was indeed a memorable experience as we loved everything from start to end. Hence all the Chinese lovers should...
Read moreHope Mr.Anjan Chatterjee - the owner of Mainland China reads this. I m appalled by the arrogance and attitude of the staff of Mainland China at Infinity mall- Malad W. It was my daughter's bday celebration on 12th August. Hence I decided to treat kids after bounce game in mainland china. So I and my husband visited on 10th Aug and met the manager to check if he could accommodate and reserve table for 13 people. That's 11 kids and 2 adults for lunch. However, to our surprise the Manager was highly unwelcoming, pricy and rude. He mentioned he cannot reserve a table irrespective of the number of the guest. And if there are kids then it's all the more a problem, as they are noisy. This attitude stunned us tremendously. How could one talk like that? He blatantly refused us confirmed booking despite we were willing to pay and book. However, just for the heck of taking details, he jotted our contact number without giving any confirmation for reservation. On 12th August, before we could proceed for lunch, my husband called to confirm if we could get a table for 13 people or else we would book elsewhere. One has to understand without reservation we can't run helter skelter with 11 kids. Hence, wanted to make sure if arrangements could be made. The manager stated he can provide a corner table and informed us that there is no need of booking elsewhere. Sooner, 30 minutes later we receive a call from the Manager stating that the table reserved for us is given to someone else. Despite clearly specifying the time of our arrival for lunch, first he agreed and later called to cancel the reservation. This kind of unprofessional, rude and arrogant behaviour is highly unacceptable. First confirming and then later canceling the reservation made my husband furious. He chided them over the phone for this irresponsible and arrogant behaviour. But to our surprise the manager started hurling abuses. We will never in our lives ever step in mainland china again. I abhor mainland china to the core now for trying to ruin our duaghters bday. Thankfully, Sigree grill provided us with a confirmed reservation and were extremely courteous, welcoming and customer centric. Both restaurants r owned by one owner (Mr. CHATTERJEE) but I guess the staff of mainland china needs to be trained especially the Manager who doesn't deserve to be on...
Read moreMainland China as the name suggest it's a Chinese restaurant with Asian cuisine. We visited the Infinity Mall (Malad West) branch which is at the link 🔗 road 🛣️. You can come directly by Metro 🚇 by getting down at Malad West metro station or otherwise you can take an auto from Malad Railway station.
The ambience was good with lots of seating available but I felt like in a small place they tried fitting a lot of table so they can adjust a lot of people which made the place conjusted and as we were in the mall at the weekend and the restaurant available at the food court area thus there was a lot of outside noise.
The restaurant was pretty busy, I waited for 10 minutes ⌚ for the bill and asked to 3 different staff for the same. The food that we tried here was pretty cliche. we started with soup and then few starters, we did not try the main course as I got bored with the taste. Following dishes we tried :
Chicken hot and sour soup 🍲 : The taste of it was bland, I thought it will be more spicy. There were lot of veggies, shredded chicken 🍗 and mushroom 🍄 in the soup which I loved but taste could have been better. Being a Chinese restaurant the taste that they offered was not worth the wait.
Drums of heaven Hong Kong style: It was basically a chicken lolly pop made in Chinese style, as I am a big fan of spicy and tangy stuff, I felt that this could have been more spicy and tangy. Chicken 🍗 piece was really fresh and good but the taste was missing. The taste was very mild whereas it should have been a bit powerful.
Chicken spring roll : I did not like this at all, stuffing was of noodles 🍜 veggies and chicken crumbs but taste was not at all upto the mark.
Further, I felt like the presentation was missing, they could have tried better and served it in a better way.
The staff were really helpful and they welcomed us with good smile and offered us table according to our choice but at last they all were busy and thus no one was available...
