New Place Alert
Happened to be near Malad on a Saturday night. Had heard and read about a new place opened close to Inorbit Mall Malad. Bomb'ar is located on 14th floor of First Avenue building. Building has a Mercedes Showroom at ground level! Easy access to this place from Highway or Oberoi mall, after the new flyover has been built.
Bomb'ar offers a fantastic view of the Western Suburbs since it is located on Level 14. Try coming in just before the sunset to witness the view and try sticking to as late as possible for some superb music played by the DJ. The place opened on Aug 14 and had a good footfall and buzz within days of opening which shows promise.
They have 2 sections with the Live Bar and Kitchen in between. There is a beautiful replica of a ship as well as soon as you enter the place. Try and sit at the section which is closer to the windows for the view! They have big tables for larger groups as well as small ones to cater to nuclear groups. As the night proceeds, some tables are adjusted to make space for the dance floor.
Now talking about what all I tried at Bomb'ar -
We started with soup - The Great Indian Rope Trick which is Pepper Rasam Broth with Tamarind Sugar Rope. This edible rope is given besides the bowl of soup. Those who like the taste of Rasam can definitely go for it.
Next from the starters, we had the Mirch Wala Paneer Tikka which was brown onion and rajasthani chilli yogurt marinade with cucumber relish. Unique but didn't excite me honestly. Have had better versions of Paneer Tikka elsewhere!
Next from the any time eats section - we tried the Bunny Chow, a South African preparation - Curry in Bread! This one is Bomb'ar's version of Bunny Chow where the curry is Veg Mock Meat Curry. Better than Paneer Tikka dish, but still have had better Bunny Chow elsewhere.
After this we tried a Chaat platter! It had the most unique and an apt name - Conversation Starter. Platter had Papdi Chaat, Twisted Gol Gappas and Aloo Tikki Chaat. For me this was the Highlight of the evening, one of the best dishes that I tried here. Papdi Chaat had good amount of Dahi and chutneys because of which it tasted nice. Again similar with Aloo Tikki Chaat had right amount of chutney proportion. Twisted Gol Gappas or Pani Puris, you get 3 different chutneys in cute cutting chai glasses separately. Gol Gappas I felt could have been better.
To go along with food, we ordered for some drinks. This place is definitely known for its cocktails and fancy names that it has for them. So one should watch out for them. Drinks that I tried were Virgin Bloody Mary, Sun Downer and Sea Dive. Amongst the 3, my favourite was Sun Downer, an attractive looking mocktail served in a tall glass. A mix of Orange, Mango and Ginger Ale for Fizz. Served with large ice cubes and Orange slice.
Moving to the mains, we tried couple of them Lentil Lasagne and Balti Imli Paneer with Sprouted Lentils and Quinoa Naan Crisps. Would definitely recommend all to try the later one. If I need to recommend one food item of all it would definitely be this! Naan Crisps with tangy flavoured Paneer a fantastic combo. Lentil Lasagne has layers of lentils cooked with tomatoes and garlic. Decent in taste.
Finally for desserts, I was excited to see Baadshah Falooda in the menu and had decided in the beginning I will definitely try that. Reminds you of the iconic place Baadshah near Crawford Market, which serves all different types of Falooda. This one was the most common and popular Rose Falooda served in Tall glass with milk, vermicelli & sweet basil seeds with Vanilla Ice-cream on top. A good way to end our meal.
All-in-all, a good overall experience, amazing ambience and good music, breathtaking views! Few food items are really good, some are average but with small tweaks can be really good. Would recommend trying the cocktails more than any mocktails! Head to Bomb'ar for a good evening with...

Read moreBOM'BAR - 14th Floor 360 Degree view. Pub/Lounge good vibe nice food good location. What else does one want. Enjoyed every bit of this lovely New Opening at Goregaon yesterday. Nicely made. Rustic look. Serves North Indian/Continental/Italian. Open all day 11 am onwards. Lovely place for a party and presume this would be a happning place in that area. Lets get to what we had :
Beer as usual. They have Flat bread which they have named it as Nanzaa. Any time eats section. Asked for the Paneer tikka & Green Chilli. Just a bit of a miss on the crust here. Found a couple of pieces to be chewy and some perfect ( maybe tempreture ) sure the chef will oook into it. It far as taste goes. Had a nice Punch. Gave an Indian touch to it.
Mozzerella/sauce/paneer tikka green chilies. This was topped with Mint leaves and Onions which had chaat masala. This was a pleasent suprise. Liked it.
Twin Veggie Burgers ( sliders ) Cottage cheese ( grilled ) steak. Again had the Punch and subtle taste.Use of pesto was refreshing. Caramasised onion gave that tad sweetness needed. Paneer steak was done well. Served with French fries ( loved it ) and some basil and mint slaw ( without the basil flavour ) need to work here as well.
The other Slider was just awesme Potato Chick Peas Vada pao - Punch blod flavours spicy perfect and went well with the beer. Indian fusion here as stuffing of sev/pomogranate/peanut dust/red and green chutney and masala fries. This had a spicyFried chili on top. overall a killer of a dish. Presentation neat. Keep up the good work Chef.
Bunny Chow - their signature dish and a house name in South Africa. Since they have their own Bakery the breads and light. Had one with the Vegatables. Diced pieces with chilies/spices and masala but balance was good. Overall a nice dish.
A bit of Healthy option , Try the Green peas hot sams ( short for samosa ) Baked. Subtle stuffing. Served with edamame bean. Tomato and pepper chutney and snow pea enhanced the dish. Got the punch needed. Ok to good.
If you are a fish Lover you need to Order the Whole Mackerel Fry with tomato chutney. Mackerel as in surmai. Made so well. Served with spicy tangy tomato chutney. Presented well. This can be a highlist of the menu. Served over sliced Cucumber with microgreens. Personally polished it.
Lamb Shammi Kebab " Dahi Bhalla " is nice invention. Its all about how to combine awadi with chaat. Basically its Shammi Kebab topped with chaat masala/Sev/pomogranete/tamarind and green chutney and Ginger stripes. Try this melt i the mouth dish. Also For vegetarians there is Aloo Itkki chaat and or Twisted Golgappas ( since the chef is from delhi ) there are some dishes which are on the menu by default.
Moving on to the mains - NOT TO MISS the BALTI PANEER,SPROUTED LENTILS with Quinoa Naan ( Crisp ) Tangy/sweet/spicy/savoury. This has it all. A dish by Itself. Lovely flavours at the same time perfectly bananced. Quinoa Naan dipped in the Balti ( half of it is crispy and the dipped portion ) is like a naan. Overall This was highlight and a dish which will be called on each table.
Chicken tikka with Makhani sauce with Jeera rice - No need to say anything Delhi guys know how to make a lovely Rich creamy tangy spicy gravy and add soft tender chicken tikka as well. Went well with the Rice. Didn't miss the Roti. Perfect combination. Would love to be back for this.
Dessert : Orange and Jaggery Butter Crepe - theater at it's best. A bit of flambe. Overal done well. Nice hit of alcohol. Made live. Do try this.
Overall - USP, View/Pricing/Potions and innovative dishes. Island bar as well/Open Kitchen. As i said this place has it all. If there is consistancy there would be a couple more comming up soon. Go for it. Though fine tuning is required but thats a part of every new...
