I recently visited Cafe Basilico in Colaba, and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. This place exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, charming ambience, and convenient location.
Firstly, the coffee at Cafe Basilici was simply amazing. It had a rich and flavorful taste that hit all the right notes. Pairing it with their delectable garlic bread was a match made in culinary heaven. The garlic bread was perfectly toasted, with just the right amount of garlic flavor. Every bite was a burst of savory goodness.
The ambience of the cafe added to the overall enjoyment of the visit. It had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place to unwind and relax. Whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying some quiet time alone, the ambience sets the perfect backdrop for a memorable experience.
One of the major advantages of Cafe Basilici is its ideal location near the Colaba Causeway market. It's conveniently situated, making it a great pitstop during your shopping adventures or a place to refuel after exploring the area.
In conclusion, Cafe Basilici in Colaba is a gem that offers a combination of delicious treats, a charming ambience, and a prime location. Read moreGuys this is not a place for Veggies. and even the most basic items were totally screwed up.
Used to visit often earlier but today after long, went there for our wedding anniversary & had a very unpleasant experience.
The Starter item, The Crispy Potato Skins came Last, burnt, totally overdone & bitterly charred.
the Pesto Pasta had green specs of colour in it. Only a tactless chef puts colour in Pesto. And the penne was swimming in the green curry.
The pizza by Michail's was so-so. But the worst is left for the Last. the Black Bean Burger - they took the name Black literally & it came Pitch Black with only Black Colour in the Buns & a black colored patty. I Have yet to see a burger so ugly & unpalatable. Finally the desserts; The Belgian choc. pastry was dry & flaky. The blueberry cheesecake was good. And the only redeeming item of the meal was well, the Lemonade.
The service was slow, tired and very weak. They took ages to clear the previous table even though we were waiting for a good 20 minutes..
Finally the food is totally overpriced & not Value For money. And ambience is bright green and very gaudy & dated.
Wife also came away disappointed.. & half hungry. It must've been love, but...

Basilico in Colaba has built quite a reputation over the years, which is why I was genuinely looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of those places where the hype no longer matches the reality.
We ordered the lemon coriander soup, which was a letdown right from the first sip – it lacked any real flavor of lemon or coriander. It tasted more like a bland, slightly heated broth with everything grounded into it. The pasta, which should be a safe bet at a place like this, was similarly underwhelming – completely tasteless and lacking in any seasoning or depth.
To make matters worse, the service was all over the place. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and couldn’t answer basic questions about the dishes. We ordered ravioli, only to be told – after waiting – that it wasn’t available. This kind of miscommunication really affects the dining experience, especially when expectations are high.
Basilico may still draw crowds because of its name, but it seriously needs to step up both its service and food quality if it wants to stay relevant. Right now, it feels like a shadow of what it once...
