Bejewelled by the Beauty of Bombay, Hello Bayview!
Bayview Cafe is nestled in crème de la crème location of Bombay. It has been my hideout for years. I was first introduced there by my dad at the age of 10. It has one of the most enchanting view overlooking the Arabian sea with a sneak peek of the Gateway of India. Also, this place is comparatively reasonable as compared to Taj or Dome or other sea view facing roof tops.
Say where? It is on the rooftop of Strand Hotel. Also called as Harbour view hotel.
Directions: It is right ahead of Taj Mahal Palace. Location : Appollo Bandar, Colaba
How expensive is it? I would say Rs 2000-2500 for two (excluding alcohol including taxes)*
What is the highlight? The view OFCOURSE! The view is so refreshing. I mean I just sat there and did nothing but still I was just so rejuvenated.
What to eat? They don’t have pizzas, pastas and burger. But they have Indian food and Chinese too. From continental, they do have picks like au gratin, chilly cheese toast etc.
I also loved their walnut brownie and their peach iced tea was on point. I liked their paneer chilly too. Roti and Vegetable was also good. (Sorry, but was too happy with the view so did not click)
How is the staff? The staff is very kind and quick. So basically there was unpredictable traffic and I reach 45 minutes later. There was very little time for daylight left. And on my request they got us everything so quickly.
Mr Gopichand was so kind. He saw me with a camera and asked me if I could click his picture (How sweet!)
#TGJTIPS : Do reserve your table in advance. Also, the best weather is winter. It might be covered in monsoons. Also a weekday evening is well preferred over weekend.
The only sad part is they don’t serve alcohol in the open due to BMC regulations.
Oh, they do have an indoor air conditioned seating with a screen and they do serve alcohol here.
Their mocktails and cocktails are yet not out.
Oh just by the way, they have revamped this place. So it is pretty and nice.
And for the first time, there was no sunset as the clouds were covering it all. But oh gosh, the overcast weather and the breeze, had us!
If you do manage to go there, do send us pictures or tag us on Instagram...

About Café:
The café is on 4th floor of the building, and once you reach there at the door manager will ask you to write down the names of all the members who are with you along with your mobile number, and post that they will check your temperature and same will be mentioned in there log book.
After that you can choose to seat in open area or in air condition.
We choose to seat in open area, but it was too humid we started sweating after 10-15 minutes and decided to move in AC.
If you are going just for view then I will say either you visit this place before 6.30 PM, but yes it will be hot.

Overall experience :
Hmm..frankly speaking I went there after looking at “Google Review” and the photo’s posted by other members and I must say people have just created hype 😝 nothing exciting about this restaurant, this is an average restaurant with expensive items. My in total bill was around 4K and I must say I was not happy with it I just felt I wasted my 4k 😝 instead I would have eat at Bademiya.
Also,I have attached latest Menu card and the photos of...
Read moreOne restaurant that I was planning to visit since couple of months, but finally got a chance to visit it yesterday with my friends and family. We parked our car in the pay and park area which is close by to the Harbour View hotel where this restaurant is located. Please be aware that the hotel does not have parking of its own and therefore pay and park is the only option. Managed to locate the hotel, took a lift to the 4th floor where this restaurant is located on the terrace. Wow what a view it was of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway of India, albeit it was some distance away from the hotel.I had visited this restaurant only for one reason and that was the view and at first did not have have any high expectations from the food, however all this changed once we ordered and had what was served to us:
Ambience: 4.5/5.......Small restaurant, non AC, tables for about 50 pax. They do have these big fans not the ceiling ones. In order to protect from the rains, a shamiana was built, however some part of it was left uncovered. We decided to opt for a table under the shamiana. The best of all was the view from the rooftop. The restaurant serves lunch upto 4 pm.
Food: 4.5/5.......Superb, everything that we ordered for, right from the soups, to the French Fries, Stuffed Mushroom, Rotis, Veg Kolhapuri, Rice and Dal Fry. Too bad i couldn't try the non veg as Saturdays i avoid it.
Service: 4.5/5......At first when we ordered, the soup took ages to come. However the starters and the main course were served real quick. The waiter and the other staff in the restaurant were very co-operative.
Price: 4/5.....Bit expensive.....Rs 2200 for the four of us minus alcohol for an all veg meal.
Will definitely try...
