Kuckeliku Breakfast House- all day cafe — Restaurant in Mumbai

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration regarding the experience my friend and I had today at Kuckelikoo . Our visit, which began with a substantial wait time, quickly escalated into a series of disrespectful and unprofessional encounters.

Upon arriving at 12:45, we were informed of a wait time ranging from 40 to 45 minutes. Patiently, we provided our name and contact details, expecting a call when our table was ready. After waiting for around 30 minutes without any communication, we decided to call the restaurant, only to be informed that the wait would persist.

In an attempt to secure a table, we resorted to booking one through Easy Diner for 2:00 pm. At 1:55, I revisited the restaurant, where we encountered the server Max, whose behavior was not only rude but also dismissive. Despite available tables, Max insisted only high chairs were available, refusing to accommodate us elsewhere.

Expressing our frustration, I pointed out our booking and the excessive wait time. Astonishingly, during our wait, we observed numerous patrons entering and leaving without us receiving any call. This lack of communication further compounded our dissatisfaction.

In a surprising turn of events, my friend called from another number with a slight foreign accent, inquiring about a table for two. The response was affirmative, and the person on the line promptly disconnected. Upon calling back and confirming, we were informed that there were available tables, and we could choose between high chairs and regular seating.

This stark contrast in treatment raises several concerns. Why were we initially denied a table when, in fact, there were vacant high chairs? Why were we judged based on appearance and attire, despite being well-dressed individuals with the intention of enjoying a pleasant dining experience?

As a customer my friend who had previously visited your establishment with high expectations, this experience was not only shocking but also humiliating. It is disheartening to think that in this day and age, a restaurant would discriminate based on appearance rather than focusing on providing quality service.

I am compelled to share this unfortunate incident with my friends and family, as well as through various online platforms. I believe it is essential to shed light on such instances of humiliation and mistreatment to encourage better practices within the hospitality industry.

We decided to take the Aqua Line 3 to Vidhan Sabha Metro Station in Colaba and have Sunday breakfast/brunch there

While the concept & the interior is nice the food & service are seriously underwhelming

We ordered a range of things from their menu - their signature Kuckeiliku platter, Buttermilk biscuit chicken sandwich, waffle fried chicken, juices, coffee & kombucha

First- Despite making a booking & a good table being available the staff was attempting to seat us in the high chairs - never a great start

Secondly- Despite asking for help, our server didn’t have any thing to suggest- he kept saying everything is nice… and left us to our own devices

Thirdly - None of the food we ordered, and there were four of us were happy with our food. The flavouring was off, it was rather bland and underwhelming

What made it worse was- we needed to actually raise hands and wave dramatically multiple times to get attention - basics were off - no cutlery on the table, orders being delivered one at a time with such delay that one person has almost finished before the other gets their food, having to remind them for coffee, sauces etc that are part of the plating / course - suddenly one server comes and hands us a second helping of one of the items we ordered - when we said we had not ordered it, all she said was - I’ve been told you’ve ordered it so take it!

All in all, it was a very disappointing experience & we felt it was far far short of the price that we paid

We had a terrible experience here. There are two big tables by the window. When we arrived, with a reservation, the first thing they said is: "You can't sit at the window tables". Lovely greeting.

We were there from 11am - 2pm. In those three hours, the window table next to us was empty the whole time. One white foreign couple, who didn't have a reservation, sat at the other window table for a while, but that table was also empty for most of the time we were there.

I would love a response from the management as to why every indian group who walked in was greeted with "You can't sit at the window table" but not the foreigners? Are you using them as window dressing, so people will look up and say wow there are white people in this cafe, we must eat there? The restaurant was not even close to full, no more than 3 tables occupied at any time, yet no one can sit at the nice tables expect white folks. What a joke.

The food was very below average. While some of it tasted good some dishes were awful and the portion size was hilarious. Tiniest portions I've seen.

The staff was also extremely rude. The woman in particular. They also forgot our coffees and after being reminded twice they finally gave us coffee, after we had finished most of our food. My coffee had curdled cream in it and was not even drinkable. We also had to ask several times just for water. Again, the restaurant was not even half full. I hate to think of how bad the service is when it's full, if that ever happens.
