Cloud 9 Cafe — Restaurant in Mumbai

Cloud 9 is a bit of an enigma. I've visited this place at least thrice in the last 15 years for late evening drinks, and despite the incredible atmosphere and the reasonably good service, I've always found it pretty empty. During my last visit (Dec '24) the captain told me I won't be able to find a spot to stand if I come late at night. I hope that's true, because it is quite a lovely place which can certainly do with good patronage. The food is nothing to go gaga over, but is not bad either. A rooftop restaurant with a fantastic view but a little off route, as the entrance is inside a lane and easy to miss. The white metal chairs and tables give a classy old school feel to this place but they are rather uncomfortable. The menu has nothing out of the ordinary and the food is over-priced. We had Chicken Tangdi Kabab, Chicken Kohlapuri and also tried out Chicken Hakka Noodles to round up the available cuisines. The kabab was pretty nice, a tad too charred and the kohlapuri was tasty. The noodle was seriously disappointing. The portions were really small given the hefty price tag....

perched atop a hotel in one of the quieter and lesser known lanes of Colaba, Cloud 9 exudes old world elegance and charm with it's striking white metal furniture and stunning views of the Taj and other landmarks in the area. Recommended time of the visit would be 6:30 pm for the best views before and after sunset (the lamps too are very old world-ish and pretty!)
