KMC or kitab mahal cafe is essentially a community place where u can sit all day with just a cup of coffee, work or spend some quiet time with yourself or ur loved ones n nobody will bother you. The staff won't ask u to leave. Also, they have a wonderful little kitchen which has an interesting menu with some twists. If u like fusion food, they have great options. As of now the menu is limited but they plan on expanding it soon. Try the masoor tagliatelle, it was quite interesting. Masoor daal over pasta with their twist was unexpectedly good. Coffee glazed roots is another wonderful fusion, very earthy. Fried chicken is a classic n they ve added some extra crunch to it with a bit of spice on top which may appeal to some but worth trying. The poached chicken in garlic emulsion with bao n quail eggs is quite a mouthful n a good choice for main course. The gnocchi is good too. The most interesting part of their menu is the wine based cocktails. Do try the poached pear where they hv a pear in the center of the bowl soaked in wine n served with eggnog. On the rocks is another cocktail you can try. It's served with a fig slice on top as garnish. Mocktails r worth trying too. Personally think the Root mocktail is worth a shot. Desserts..the coffee tres leches with mascarpone is easily the best dessert on their menu. The chocolate chip cookie with basil ice cream is another hit. The place is spacious, ambience is good with simple yet elegant seating arrangement. Over all, although a new place, it has a lot of promise and would be worth visiting to try the additions...

On our return from a visit aboard Italia's Navy's Training-Ship Semi-Sailing S.Amerigo Vespucci our Day turned even better when we walked into KMC for a quick lunch after a hot day full of Exploration & Photography... The subtle calming Vibe of this Restaurant/Cafe Bar inbetween the Hustle-bustle of C.S.M.Terminus mere a stone throw-away gives one a very Fine-Dine'y experience. As we sat there, reflecting upon our recent Ship-visit.. Awaiting our order...little did we know that our our taste buds were gonna have a much better day than our eyes.. The "Coffee Glazed ribs" got us to forget "The world's most beautiful ship"...made "Ohh, so perfectly" by Chef Jyotsana ... You deserve every bit of the "Collar-Up Pride" you felt upon our appreciation of it. "Country-Style Lamb Stew With Herb Pilaf" was cooked perfectly and made for a good main-course choice with the lamb cooked tenderly, as required. Followed by the Dessert "Dense Chocolate Cake With Orange" ... Amazingly sinful...every bite got us "craving" for more... A special shout-out to Bhavesh our Capt. /wait-staff... For indulging our queries and random banter...for being both professional and humble. Also to all the wait-staff for the warm and inviting service. Via this review, I request the Head-chef to never remove the Coffee Ribs and the Dense Choc. from his menu... And to tie-down Jyotsana slowly raising her in ranks as his/her/their sous-chef. The drinks menu was...
Read moreKMC is a rustic cafe in the beautiful old buildings of Fort. They have a very small food menu but it's enough. The food is quite unique and so are the cocktails and mocktails.
You must try the cocktails and mocktails here. They are fantastic. We loved the Asian sour and coriander lemonade.
If you want to try more cocktails, make sure you go for their Sunday brunch.
Coming to the food.. it was good. We loved the Podi Brioche..must have. Softest, fluffiest bread with a flavorful podi masala.
Corn Beignets & popcorn.. no one serves this in Mumbai. Delicious. Fried corn Beignets dusted with popcorn crumbs served with a creamy corn dipping sauce. Delicious.
Mushroom rice... Loved the sweet Crispy bits and sauteed mushrooms added to the rice. It was savory and a little sweet. Quite different from the usual mushroom flavour. It was good.
Roast Pumpkin curry with turmeric garlic bao, another flavorful dish. Soft fluffy bao and delicious coconutty curry. Loved it.
Masoor Tagliatelle was good. The pasta was a tad bit overcooked but flavorful overall.
Dense chocolate cake with orange.. delicious. Loved the dense cake.
Overall good food however the service could be better. Had to keep calling the staff.
Also people sit there with laptops for hours with one dish occupying larger tables, it gets difficult for people who are more than 2 as they have to occupy smaller space. The management needs to do something about this.
Would visit again for the podi brioche and try...
