Cafe Marina — Restaurant in Mumbai

The Marina Upper Deck ~ Rooftop Cafe I wanted to Visit this place since a long time right before the time they were serving Sheesha with a view. It was evening time when I did visit the place recently with a friend and ofcourse in the evening around 5:30 pm one wouldn’t want to hog a lot when you have already had a late lunch. Since I was meeting a client over there regarding work, it is obvious there was going to be a lot of discussions! We ordered Tea/Coffee whatever they could get us, we learned that this place does not serve any Tea/Coffee which is like really basic for a place to have! But drinks were available! They were really kind enough to get us Tea from their hotel kitchen. Well if I give any rating it will surely be for that. The Tea was apparently very good. Ginger tea to be precise. We sat there for quite sometime. Sitting and talking, until the manager/waiter kept coming and disturbing us whether we wanted to order anything else or not. They also gave us the bill without even asking for it around 6:30. But we were still willing to sit. We asked the manager to take back the bill and ordered some house fries. The fries were soggy and were not good to taste. 10 minutes after the fries arrived at the table, the manager kept buzzing around our table to check if we were done or not. He also asked us to eat fast because apparently he had a reservation for that particular table. We also told him we still want to sit and that we are still not done eating, and that there were other tables that are still empty and he can use them. But he insisted that he wanted to join the table which had a big group coming. We were there till 7:30 but no big group buzzed in. One thing the management needs to know, if you have a rooftop and an apparent view, people will want to come and sit for long. You cannot hand them the bill and ask them to leave or ask them to eat fast. If earning money is an issue, get a cover charge per person. That way you can earn money and not disgust people with your behaviour. People move out to enjoy and not a race to finish and leave. It was very embarrassing and...

Horrible Staff.. I was asked to move out of my table (which had a sea view ) because I was alone and they wanted to give my table to a group of people who had come after me. They tricked me into thinking they had already reserved the table. I didn't realize then and moved out of that table to a lesser attractive one where the view was not that good. After a while a couple left out of table with the sea view so I just moved into their place. Since I was staying at the same hotel I had thought they would bill it to my room apparently that wasn't the case so I asked the staff to reserve the current table for me and rushed to my room to get my purse.(I had left some of my belonging on the table so that they would reserve ) To my surprise when I came back they had given my table to another group of people. I got hold of the manager and asked him to move them out coz I had reserved it beforehand but the manager kept on asking me to sit somewhere else. I was very irritated by then and was adamant on getting back my table.. Finally the group vacated and let me sit. I wish I could give negative star or something if it...

We went in to Cafe Marina with great expectations after seeing the pics online. There was a special occasion which we wanted to celebrate with a rooftop sea facing view and this cafe seemed to be one of the few places. With a huge expectation as we reached there, we found that the cafe is situated above a Sea Palace Hotel which is probably a cheap lodging hotel so by the looks of it, it looked shady. Definitely not the place you want to take 3 generations of your family! I reached early to catch a table by the sea face and luckily got hold of one after requesting the manager who didn't seem to care enough. His attitude was laid back and non chalant at best.

When we finally started to order, the ill-lighted rooftop didn't let us. Everyone pulled out their phone and started the flash light to read the menu. The 2-star is only for the food which was definitely good. We ordered chicken, fish and paneer starters. Vegetable dum biryani, butter chicken and rice. The dal tadka was good.

The rooftop isn't as good as shown in some reviews online. Go only if you stay nearby and definitely not...
