Nestled in the heart of the city, Rustico has always been one of those places I'd heard whispers about but never quite had the opportunity to visit. Well, that changed recently, and I'm glad it did. Here's the lowdown on my dining experience at Rustico.
The food at Rustico left me with mixed feelings. While it was good overall, I couldn't help but feel like it fell slightly short of the high expectations set by the ambiance and service. The menu boasts a fusion of flavors, offering a unique twist on familiar dishes. Here's a rundown of what I sampled:
Sweet Lime Mint Martini (4/5): A refreshing start to the evening, this cocktail had just the right balance of sweet and tangy. It's the kind of drink that could easily become a favorite.
Masala Roasted Khichiya (4/5): These crispy, spicy bites were a delightful surprise. The masala coating elevated the humble khichiya to another level.
Pani Puri Shots (3.5/5): This iconic Indian street food was decent, but I've had better. The flavors were there, but the execution could have been crisper.
Cheese Chilly Toast (3/5): Sadly, this dish didn't quite hit the mark for me. The flavor combination didn't resonate, and I found it a tad too heavy on the cheese.
Cheese Corn Balls (4/5): On the other hand, the cheese corn balls were a hit. Creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside, they were a delightful blend of textures and flavors.
Onion Rings (3/5): While I appreciated the attempt to add a twist to the classic onion rings, these were a bit of a letdown. They were overly oily, which detracted from the otherwise good taste.
Fiama Pizza (4/5): The Fiama Pizza was a pleasant surprise. The thin crust was perfectly baked, and the toppings were well-balanced. It's a good choice if you're in the mood for pizza with a twist.
White Sauce Risotto (4.5/5): Saving the best for last, the White Sauce Risotto was an absolute winner. Creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it was the highlight of the meal.
The service at Rustico was commendable. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and they were knowledgeable about the menu, which is always a plus. They even recommended the White Sauce Risotto, and I'm grateful they did because it turned out to be the star of the show.
Rustico's ambiance is cozy and inviting. With dim lighting, rustic decor, and soft jazz music in the background, it's a perfect place for a romantic dinner or a relaxed evening with friends. The seating arrangements are comfortable, and the overall vibe exudes warmth.
In conclusion, Rustico is a restaurant that has a lot going for it. While the food was good, it didn't quite reach the heights I had hoped for. Nevertheless, the impeccable service and charming atmosphere make it a place worth visiting, especially if you're looking to try something a little different. I'll definitely be returning to explore more of their menu, and I have a feeling that White Sauce Risotto will be calling...
