I recently dined here and was intrigued by the menu photos, particularly the fish and chips. While I understand that presentation can vary, I was a bit surprised that what I received bore only a passing resemblance to the image - the fish was laid out more casually than expected, not quite the artful stack I had hoped for as it was shown on the menu. As for the taste, Iâm not entirely sure what type of fish was used, but it had a rather... unique flavor. Perhaps itâs simply not the variety I usually enjoy. The fries were decent at least.
For dessert, I went for the coconut filled crepes with a scoop of ice cream. Unfortunately, this didnât quite hit the mark either. The crepes lacked the flavor I was hoping for, and the ice cream had that unmistakable "freezer burnâ essence - if you know what that is itâs like when you leave ice cream too long in the freezer and it carries a mixture of the other items smell/taste in the freezer together. Itâs never fun to leave a dessert untouched, especially after paying for it, but in this case, it just wasnât something I could finish.
That said, the view of the pond was genuinely lovely, and I suppose sometimes ambiance is what you...
Read moreIf I could rate it on just their mango juice it would be 5 stars, definitely the best we had during our holiday in Bali and we had mango juice at a lot of restaurants. Unfortunately there are other aspects to this restaurant to review, although De'warung also rates highly on those. There is a good choice of food and drinks with the Balinese dishes tasting very good, but other nations dishes being better than expected, but no where near as good as the local foods. I personally tried the satay and chicken curry which had the blandest title of a dish but was full of flavour and an absolute delight. Staff were good, despite almost serving us Margheritas instead of mango juice, but they read back the order so we caught that one. Prices are ok, not the most expensive nor cheapest, our meal was around 250k idr for a couple of juices and main dishes. It's between the monkey forest temple and the palace, so decent location. The decor of the restaurant was quite pleasant with plenty of fans and a water feature. It was the only place we ate a twice and we'll definitely return if we go back...
Read moreWalking by and read the menu earlier today so we decided to make it where we were dining tonight. Glad we did. My wife had the Thai Beef salad and i the Garlic roasted Tomato soup. Followed by 2 different pork belly dishes as mains. Were all to our liking. The staff allowed us to bring Sammi so we sat in a sort of side table area so as not to disturb others. Thanks for that. The restataunt has a classy feel about it but prices were not up there at all. See you again de' Warung. Love the name.
