We had an amazing experience at The Blue Door in Ubud, Bali! We initially stopped by for happy hour, and it was so fantastic that we ended up returning the next day for breakfast with the family.
Our servers, Yuni and Nur, were exceptional and incredibly helpful. Yuni, in particular, was so accommodating and even allowed me to practice my Balinese with her. She also shared valuable tips on where to visit and what to do in Lovina, which was very helpful as we were headed there next.
The food was perfect for breakfast, and the previous night's happy hour food was equally delicious.
Popcorn chicken with mayo: Crispy fried chicken served with wasabi mayo dipping sauce—so tasty and finger-licking good!
Truffle Parmesan fries: Hand-cut fries deep-fried in truffle oil, topped with herbs and Parmesan cheese.
For drinks, we enjoyed the happy hour offerings:
Lychee Rosa: A refreshing and tasty mix of white rum, lychee, cranberry, and lemon.
Moscow Mule: Vodka, homemade ginger beer, and lime juice made for a delicious, refreshing drink.
The venue offers various seating options and TVs showing sports (we saw some locals catching up on the footy, which made us smile). There's also a club and dance floor at the back of the bar door for evenings.
Overall, we highly recommend The Blue Door for its exceptional service, great food, and inviting atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!
Breakfast at The Blue Door in Ubud is a must-try! They were incredibly accommodating, especially since we were traveling with children. They made minor changes to our orders, omitting certain ingredients as needed and serving the kids' meals separately so we could remove any unwanted items.
The eggs were cooked to perfection, and the juices and smoothies were fresh, flavorful, and refreshing. A fantastic way to start the day! Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a great breakfast spot in Ubud!
No high chair for bubs, but we were able to compromise a chair and cushion to prop her up to see and...
Read moreI’ve visiter at The Blue Door Bali multiple times, but after what happened today, I’ll never return. I was cheated and double charged for a drink. The staff served me the wrong drink, which I declined. They then told me the drink I originally wanted was more expensive and required an extra charge — I agreed, but when I tapped my card, I was charged full price for two drinks.
I immediately questioned it. The staff confidently said it was correct and that the original charge had already gone through. I opened the drink menu to verify the pricing, and suddenly the staff panicked and walked away. Turns out, I had been blatantly charged for both drinks — one I didn’t even receive or touch.
I asked to speak to a supervisor. She kept repeating it was an "honest mistake." Let me be clear — this was not a mistake. I asked multiple times. I raised it immediately. A manager eventually offered a refund, as if that alone solved the issue.
As I left, I spoke to the reception and asked for the person in charge. Shockingly, the same manager came out and accused me of trying to take advantage of the staff. I'm Asian too — this isn't about the small amount of money. It's about staff knowingly overcharging guests and being backed up by a manager who enables it or covers it up.
This isn't just poor service — it's dishonest, unethical, and shameful. If this is how they treat regulars, I worry for first-time guests. Avoid unless you want to be scammed and...
Read moreReview of Blue Door Ubud:
As a local resident living around Ubud, I am deeply disappointed with the policies in place at Blue Door Ubud. While I understand that any business aims to provide a great experience for its visitors, it seems that Blue Door has failed to consider the impact it has on the surrounding community.
One of the most disturbing issues is the excessive noise caused by loud music played at the venue. The management had previously stated that the music would be turned off by 11 PM, yet in reality, the music often continues well into the early morning. As someone who has lived here long before this business was established, it’s frustrating and disturbing to be unable to enjoy a peaceful night at home.
I get that loud music and entertainment might be a draw for tourists, but Blue Door needs to recognize the importance of balancing business interests with the well-being of local residents. When the noise starts affecting the peace and quiet of the neighborhood, it becomes a problem that needs attention.
I sincerely hope that the management at Blue Door will reconsider the volume and timing of the music, and be more mindful of the impact on the local community. Without a more thoughtful approach to the social and environmental effects, I fear this issue could grow into a bigger concern...
