This place has a chill no-nonsense vibe with multiple signs saying "We don't offer wifi. Talk to each other. Pretend it's 1995." I love it. It's cozy and literally translates to "family garage", and has a little introduction at the front of the menu. You immediately feel comfortable and welcome here. And the kitchen is fully open so you can watch everyone hard at work making your meal.

We tried the lumpia garasi (spring rolls), the kare tahu tempe (tempeh cooked in a curry sauce) and the mie kuah - indonesian noodle soup. I asked if I could have the soup without chicken and they happily offered to replace the chicken with tofu/tempeh. The food was very good, with subtle and savory flavors. I loved the way they cooked the tempeh - it had a smokey and chewy flavor that was really nice. We are really happy that we found...

Staying with Ketut and his family in their guesthouse was the best decision for me because I was traveling alone for the first time. They helped me with everything from organising my transports, changing rooms, recommending me places to visit, to extending my visa. They made me feel like I was home, we were talking about local life and I ate almost every day at their warung, food is amazing and fresh and breakfast was delicious every day😊Rooms are clean and basic, the price is very cheap and because of the location in the center of Ubud you can walk and see almost everything. I went to Malaysia for 2 weeks and left part of my luggage in Ketut home(including computer and some money) thats how safe my stay was in their guesthouse. After one month they became my local family... Thank you for everything hope to...

I went there for the 4th time right after a big thunderstorm. I arrived at 7:30 and the place was full (25+ people). I had to sit at the bar, on an actual motorbike.

It looked like everyone else also just arrived, and they were all ordering at the same time. I placed my order, and knowing that most things there are cooked to order, I expected to wait a long time.

Within 10 minutes, I had already received my main dish. The dessert came right as I finished it. I paid my bill and got out within 30 minutes of arriving.

Over the past week, I had the chance to try many of their dishes:

Lumpia Garasi (15k): 3/5 Gado Gado (15k): 3/5 Kare ayam (25k): 4/5 Nasi campur (20k): 4/5 Nasi goreng (20k): 4/5 Mie goreng (20k): 4/5 Pisang goreng (10k): 4/5 Dadar Garasi (10k): 4/5 Bubur...

Came there 3 years ago and they didn't have much options/ were not super flexible to make dishes vegan. Now they have plenty delicious options & super cheap. Would highly recommend, quite an atypical place off the main street. Definitely recommend to try the Kate tofu tempeh if you like curries with a little bit of a kick (great side, comes without rice!) we had the Gado Gado which was nice too (on the small side) and nasi goreng with tofu (was good too!) Really appreciate the flexibility and so far one of the best warungs & cheapest we've tried in Ubud 😜. Staff was really friendly and accepted for us to do bank transfer after we realised they don't accept card and hadn't taken cash. They also speak & understand English really well!
