Sally’s Kitchen — Restaurant in Bali

Lovely restaurant with a good atmosphere. The waitresses and waiters were lovely and friendly and accommodating. The manager was also on site and walking around talking to everyone about their meal which was a nice touch.

The only problem was that although they had a vegan option they didn't have any simply vegetarian option for the curries.

My friend and I both got green curries, and while my chicken one was beautiful, my friends "vegan" curry was not very nice. It was visually very darker in colour and much spicier (I guess due to lack of milk or cream). There was also no tofu or tempe so it was rather uninspiring.

While I think it is fantastic to offer a vegan option, some people are simply vegetarian and don't need their food to be that extreme. A creamy curry with veggies and tofu would have been perfect. I felt sorry for her as mine was delicious and even though we both got the green curry, hers was very different and not as nice as mine.

Dined here on my final night in Ubud with a group of 8 adults and 4 kids. The kitchen was severely understaffed and they didn't inform us. The place was barely half full and they couldn't manage. Our drinks took 30+ mins to arrive. I then had to speak to the staff and ultimately the manager himself before the first 2 dishes arrived. That was more than 1 hour after ordering. The final dish came about 1 hour and 20 mins from the point of the order. This was the case with our neighbouring table as well. The food was awful because it was being rushed out of the kitchen. These are just some of the complaints. Burnt chicken burger patty add on bacon to the burger arriving separately 20 mins after the burger was served. plastic piece in the carbonate wrong sauce served with the pork chop. Pork chop meat was tough.

Arriving in Ubud and With no idea Where to eat, we stumbled across Sally’s Kitchen. Walking in we were immediately greeted by the smiling and effervescent KERTI, our host for the evening. Struggling to know what to order from such an enticing menu, we decided to leave the decision making to KERTI. With her perfect English and broad knowledge of the food and wine on offer including the lovely restaurant surrounds, we felt satisfied we were about to have a meal to remember. KERTI perfectly paired the food with the wine. The flavours of our dishes she suggested were sublime. Knowing when and when not to approach was her specialty. Our experience was amazing, the food was next level. Our favourite was the roasted duck curry.
