Only 3 Stars? Yes, on purpose. The current very high rating is overrated, so I had to make an adjustment. The food itself is definitely worth 4 stars. However, this Warung is not really a warung, since it does not only offer traditional Balinese cuisine. Instead it tries to please everyone, by serving dishes from many different kitchens Pasta, for instance, should not appear on a warung's menu. Also, the Balinese food is clearly influenced by thai food, and not originally Balinese. Then there is the shoe thing.... sure, some shoes (mostly flip flops) were standing outside, but that didn't immediately ring a bell with me. When it turned out we were the only ones still wearing our flip flops inside, this was kind of awkward. A sign asking the guests to remove any footwear upon entering would have prevented this. Then there was the weird conversation when ordering dessert. My partner ordered the crepes with icecream, and was asked "how many?". Since we did not quite understand what was meant (how many scoops of ice, how many portions, how many what??), we tried to ask what our waitress was trying to ask. Unfortunately, the same question was just repeated. My partner decided to answer "one", which turned out to be correct. When another table ordered the same dessert, they also had to ask what was meant. There too, the question was repeated. In their case, the couple wanted to share one dessert, which turned out to be exactly what the waitress meant. Sigh.... Finally, the prices. Traditional warungs are very very very affordable. This warung is about 30% more expensive than others in the center of Ubud. Still very affordable, but not how it should be. It appears that the owner decided to call his restaurant a warung, in order not to have to pay taxes. Conclusion after all this rambling: go there, but only once. Visit proper warungs instead of...
Read moreThe food is incredibly delicious, but every time staff has memory problems. I come here almost every day and every time I remind you that I’m allergic to garlic. And every time they put it in the dishes. Because of this, you have to wait for it to be redone. This time I asked for tea with lemon and they just brought tea in a broken mug. To which the waitress replied to me that it was normal. And the staff is also unfriendly. It feels like I'm coming to a funeral 🫠.
P.S. When I asked to change the tea, they brought me a tea package and showed me that it was tea with lemon. I haven't completely lost my mind yet to distinguish between lemon tea and just tea.
New: I decided to give it another chance but today I got poisoned by...
